The Happy Downshifter
My name is Tracey Smith and I jumped out of the rat race in 2002 in favour of rural France.
I rear my own chickens, ducks and guinea fowl for eggs and the table, grow fruit and veg and barter my excess. I have no central heating, a temperamental fosse septique, I exchange skills instead of money wherever possible and wear thermals from November to March. Life is simple and life is good.
I am a writer and speaker on the subject of downshifting and living a simpler, happier life and pen a column for French Magazine and a section at www.FrenchEntree.com/fe-downshifting.
In the past year, I have added a couple of television and radio credits to my cv and hope one day to present a programme on Successful Downshifting.
In the year ahead I want to have fictional and non-fictional work published and for the story to be transferred to the silver screen.
...not too many ambitions then hey!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
