Well, Hello Ringo!
FairlyStrange Started conversation Jun 1, 2000
A little late, sorry! Welcome to H2G2! Looks like you're doing a good job of finding your way around! If you need anything, or have any questions, just ask here! I'll be back to help!
If I can't, I'll find you someone who can!
(Oh....and I don't think there will be a problem with 3
ton guests at the party....just pets!)

ok, I've got it now, anyway, what i'm looking for is less an English teacher than someone who helps me with threads and links and how to use 'em. I'm in the net only for a couple of weeks and there's a big lack of speech and user knowledge.
For example how can I do some "advertising" for my homepage, how to put threads and forums? And why does Seaman, the english goal keeoer still wear his awful mustache?

androyd Posted Jun 14, 2000
As for Seaman, that's because he needs it as defensive cover to make up for the lack of midfield support. Also to cover his embarrassment at letting in so many goals this season.

Ringo......are you looking for "page Edit" ideas, or how to spamm H2G2?(that's been done...a lot!!!LOL)
Either way.....I know a couple of folks who can help, if I know exactly which you're after(or both)

I don't think I want to "spamm" anything (or anyone)sounds a bit slippery, to be perfectly honest, I don't even now the meaning of (...no not luff)"spamm"( did I mention my lack of net speech)
It's more the second thing, I've got the ideas to edit my page but I don't know how to realize them...
for example "daisys' desperate diary", a kind of forum for (not only) foolish thoughts, phrases and curious things happening to any kind of beings
I also would like to do some kind of thread like "Cornwall from a bloody Germans view"; doesn't have to be on my homepage but where and how to put it in?
Can I give a link to my homepage with my adress?
There are some more ideas, but i think that's enough to start with...
Aahh; not to forget, thanks a lot for your support!

As long as he keeps on letting in goals against the Germans, I'm ok with it...but I'm afraid even Seamans support won't be enough

Yes, you can link from your User Page to anywhere or from any Homepage you have to your User Page!
The easiest way to open "rooms" is to write a New Guide Entry(don't "Submit" it for Approval), and link to it from your User Page.(See "The Mystery of NM" link on my page...that's how it's done!)
Monsy(my wife) keeps a couple of extra Pages on hand to change out her User Page for various holidays!
As far as how to get graphics and such on your page, here is H2G2's Official "How To" Guide! www.h2g2.com/A264520 . It's quite thourough!
Now...getting the message out that you have a page you want people to check out.....thats' "Spamming". Normally not a good thing, but if done with taste, it's quite effective!
What you do is to go around to the forums you're in and let the folks you are talking to know about your page, and leave a link to it in the forums(easy done!) Then...with any luck, it will grow!(Remember CyySyStrr's party? That's how word was spread about it!)
This is also a great way to get help and advice on any Articles you are planning to submit!

I think you have to lower the knowledge-level with me. Firstly. I cannot find the Mystery of NM on your homepage (a pretty amusing one).
Second, you say it's easy done, but how can I leave a link (please be so kind and explain it with an example.
The same with the spamming - how to do
I looked at all the search guides and all that stuff, but couldn't find (or understand anything)
I did mean it seriously when I said that I don't know much about work with computers
Help me pleeeaase

In GuideML (its easy to use)a link is like this:
Ringo's Homepage. If the link is in a forum thread then it's different. I'll post again with more info in a minute.
Well, Hello Ringo!
androyd Posted Jun 26, 2000
If your guide entry is in plain text then just type in the URL and the link will be created for example
Come to my home page at:http://www.h2g2.com/U121497. This will create a link to your homepage. However in forums if you just click on someones name you go to their homepage so you don't need to link there. If you want to advertise a page then just type in the URL.
You can always just highlight the link, right click on your mouse button and click on copy then go to where you want the link and paste:Come to my home page at:http://www.h2g2.com/U121497.
Is this more helpful?
