Hello

Fur_balls is by the for the hamster, but occasionally my guys let me use their space if I come across something that interests me. I am the keeper/pet/slave to six adorable hamsters who have me wrapped around their little paws. Angus especially as he now has special needs. Thought I would say hi. fur_balls co founder

Hi fur_balls smiley - smiley

thanks for popping by - six hamsters must keep you pretty busy! I've had hamsters in my time I must say but now I've got the smiley - cats, they're not a very good mixture.

A few years back I baby-sat a friends hamster for 6 months when she got flooded out of her flat. The smiley - cats were very interested in our new house-guest and we ended up keeping Dolores in one of the bedrooms, shut away from them. She was unbelievable - she was 3 years old, almost totally bald and would suddenly fall over on one side. She had to have drops every morning for her skin condition but she was a fiesty little thing and I understand was getting on for 4 when she finally died!

Well, glad to make your acquaintance - come back again if you fancy a chat smiley - smiley

Hi again, the guys said I could respond. I have a hamster Angus who is nearly 3. He has a prolapsed hip is totally blind and just had a massive stroke which gave an upset tum and raging ear infection. A bad day in anyone's book. Despite all this he still with us and his penchant for going round in circles is starting to dissipate. He is one spoiled rodent. Well they all are but Angus more so as he is now very fragile, that's what you get for being pedigree hair ball.
I too love pussy cats but really it is impractical and unsafe here for a mog where we live. Plenty of strays to keep us occupied over the road though and I work in a charity shop that helps raise funds a moggy shelter in Hastings.

You sound as if you're a veritable sanctuary for sick and ailing hamsters! Poor old Angus has certainly been thru the mill hasn't he - hope he perks up a bit soon.

My smiley - cats are getting a bit tatty now. They're both nearly 14 and don't want to do much except sleep these days. The kids (ever with an eye to the main chance)have asked for kittens when these 2 shuffle of their mortal coil but I'm inclined to go with something with a slightly shorter lifespan myself. After all, the kids will be up and gone within about 6 years or so, even if only on a temporary basis, and it'd been kinda nice to be able to do my own thing a bit at that point. So, rushing home to feed the cats doesn't sound too attractive. The youngest has wanted hamsters for ages so I may return to hamster-ownership yet! You'll have to let me know which your favourite type is ... I think the ones we had were always kinda gingery with white patches and Always called "Hammy" smiley - rofl

Well, best go and get some dinner on the go ... good to talk to you again

Any advice and help you want when the time rises, I'm your girl. I know a few breeds you want to avoid because of the amount of care, I can tell you which breeds to go for for first timers and I can tell you to house and take care of them to get a good quality of life. I never recomend cages, to messy, besides the little guys love sawdust. What end of the world do you live in? I can send you some info on hamis and housing of said. Two little fluff balls in seperate tanks is best as, although mainly solitary they do like someone to talk to. Boys are better than girls.

Hi there. How are you? Not such a good week in fur_balls lands. Angus, having survived his stroke, has died. Vet says he may have had a brain tumour. It was quick. Bright side, have 2 new little ones (brothers) to keep the other hamsters (and me) busy while we miss our little man.
