Welcome to the Guide, fellow Californian. smiley - smiley I serve the Towers in the capacity of an Assistant Community Editor (ACE), duly appointed to help new users feel comfortable and answer questions and stuff. So if you have any questions about how to get around here, feel free to ask, but I can tell by how many posts you've already made that you're finding you way around just fine.

Anyway, in case you need these resources, here's a couple of links I usually give out to newbies:

The ACE homepage has all sorts of good information for new researchers, like the GuideML clinic and the guidelines for getting your entries approved: http://www.h2g2.com/A214796

This thing will help you find the social underbelly of H2G2, the Guide to H2G2 Clubs: http://www.h2g2.com/A270325

So anyway, what part of California are you from? I hail from the Inland Empire in the southern half of the state, famous for such plentiful natural resources as smog, wind, and dirt. smiley - winkeye

Finally! Somebody actually comes to my page and leaves a message! (I was getting so desperate I was thinking about ordering a snowball cannon strike on myself, so I'd actually have a piece of traffic!) Glad one of the ACEs finally arrived. If I had a blue ribbon for First Place to give you, I would. smiley - winkeye

Anyhow, I'm from the Bay Area, near SF. There's plenty of wind here too, but not too much dirt - most of it is composed of clay, and requires a couple good hits from a hoe to make a decent dent. (It's murder when my parents decide it's time to plant a garden - they always do it when the weather starts to get hot!) The major resource around here is technology; might help explain me.

Regarding the Guide, I had already managed to find the GuideML clinic (thanks for the convenient link though), and I'm planning on my first entry being about English teachers. (This'll be fun!) Hadn't discovered the club guide, though.

Glad to hear from you.

hello
thought I'd just zip past and say hello - seeing as you are round and about tonight (though probably not night where you are?) It's late night here in the UK and there is not a great deal going on here, so a perfect opportunity to say HI to someone new (that means you) - hi...

Actually it is night - at least it is now (2 hrs. after you posted). But since "night" is defined (sort of) as after 6 pm, and it's 8:37 now, yes, it was night here when you posted. Good job! smiley - winkeye

Glad you could drop by...I'm finally starting to attract visitors. Probably has something to do with all the posts I've made so far...

P.S. I actually discovered that you had posted this from your home page; I just happened to drop by & had a look around.

The Guide to Clubs isn't well known yet, because it's a project that I put together myself recently with help from the people who are advertised there. I hope to remedy that soon, but for the meantime, I try to point it out to new people. Jumping into one of those clubs is a quick way to make friends, and thus, bring more visitors to your homepage. smiley - smiley

I tend to use the "Who's online now" pop-up gizmo and go see what other people are talking about in the here and now as it were.

I never thought of that. Thanks!

It doesn't always work as there is a time delay of around 15/20 minutes. So you may think you are responding to someone who is online, but actually, they went walkabout a bit before - but generally speaking it rocks...

That might explain a bit of weirdness I saw with it (I wasn't listed but I was on).
