I recently watched a documentary about Global Warming; its causes and effects.

Here's the thing (you probably know this already); if we continue to burn the amount of fossil fuels we do at present, then in 'our life time' we will have created a 'global change' that we will not be able to reverse. If the polar ice caps melt water levels rise causing unprecedented flooding. The warmer temperature also results in more forest fires, more desert land and more of the kinds of 'freak' weather systems we're already beginning to see. As much as a BILLION people will die!

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

DON'T depend on your Government; their pockets are lined by the very organisations that contribute most to the problem and will generally take the soft option (aiming to reduce omissions by 2050 is too little too late). Need I point out that turning to your 'Religious Leaders' will do you little good? No '3 minute silence' or 'prayers offered up' will get us out of this one.

YOU NEED TO ACT NOW!!!

How?

It's pretty simple really... just use less energy. Right now you’re sat in front of a computer you probably don't need to be using, or could use a whole lot less. Cycle or walk where you might have used motorized transport. Turn off electrical appliances not in use (Lots of us leave computers, TV's etc on over night). WATCH less television - let’s face it there's generally nothing worthy of watching on. Buy less of the kinds of things you don't need - does anyone really need a 'robotic dog'? Everything we buy that we don't need has cost energy to produce. Travel less; cheap flights don't cost the environment any less. Why not use your time more effectively, instead of working some soul destroying job all week long to keep you in the kinds of things you DON'T actually need, why not work less and spend more time say, doing volunteer work for a charity? Or spent ENJOYING friends and family. Or just figuring out why anyone actually needs a 'robotic dog'... Cook your own meals (I'm not quite sure how this helps but the documentary seemed to suggest it would).
Learn a little more about this subject and spread the word. Get more OUTDOOR exercise, all those 'running machines' at the gym use energy as do the lights, computers etc you can go for a jog outdoors and it might even be better for you, plus there's the scenery. THINK of creative ways to USE LESS ENERGY!

WHY AM I TELLING YOU ALL THIS?

Well, the only other alternative to produce the amount of energy that we need to sustain our current life-styles is NUCLEAR - nah!
The interesting thing about the documentary was that it PRESUMMED that we here in the west just WOULDN'T be able to give up the kind of wasteful living we're presently engaged in, BUT I just don't think that's true, it only takes ONE (you that is) to act and effect ONE other and so on and so forth and REALCHANGE can occur.

The power to change the world we live in has always been OURS (the individual); see for example Gandhi, mother Teresa, Martin Luther King etc,
Every radical idea begins with a minority of one - you.

WAKE UP.

Discontinue any practice that uses energy or damages the envornment that you don't actually need to engage in. Demand more from the powers that be, you put them there and they’re supposed to represent you.

Don’t wait for anyone else to start first and forget anyone who isn't supportive. REAL CHANGE BEGINS WITH YOU and you can change no one but YOU.

NOW that you've read this please pass it on. As for me this is the last time I use a computer.
