How the GCSE's going ? Are you doing Music to GCSE ?

My wife is head of music at a secondary school, so I get all the home chat about helping her 'charges' to make the best of themselves for the exams - so although my exam days are long gone, I seem to sit them every year !

Ouch ! that was said with some vitriol ! -- I too remember that revision helps (especially at degree level).

I've got family in Scandinavia, well in Finland, some of them near the boarders... the bits that have both Finnish and Russian names... I've attempted to learn something about the two languages. OK, so I gave up after about five minuets, but it's the thought that counts, yes? Anyway, what I'm driveing at is that I empathise with you.
Me, I've got IT tomorrow and again on Friday and then I'm done. Ahh, 10 weeks holiday!

I got one tomorrow, and one monday. But we don't get study leave. D'oooooohhhhhh

That is evil! The whole point of exams is study leave!

Umm... I mean, the whole point of exams to to get qualifications, if the school keeps you there to see that you revise blah blah blahberty blah.

well, here we stagger our exams, so I took 3 last summer, 2 last winter and four this summer. Which is kind of sensible, and kind of, well, not.
But I don't complain within earshot of the teaching staff. One word of advice. NEVER ever even attempt Russian GCSE. It has ruined my life. And my morning. Still, only one exam to go.

Don't worry, the only foreign language I'll ever take is French, and even only short course and only 'cause we had to.

I quite like French. It's more fun than, say, maths. Which is poo. Certified.

Personally I quite like maths, it's all logical, I can understand it. But hey, each to their own.

Sorry Uncle, but I tend to side with Siren over maths being logical - I may not always be able to suss the logic, but I know its there - unlike most of the more ephemeral arts subjects.

eons ago I did a degree in chemistry, so I guess I count as one of the 'boring' non-arts people - actually I try to be a bit of a polyglot, but I don't admire people who think it is clever and/or a good thing, to be non-scientifically literate -- very few scientifically minded people profess (with pride) a lack of understanding of arts based subjects/conversations.
