Ramblings about internet community.

I was reading an article in the paper last night about the genome project, and how scientists all over the world have used the internet to put together a database of the 3 billion genomes. The target for completing this before the internet project was some time in 2003, but now they recon it'll be done in another 2 months.

I got to thinking about h2g2 and how a similar thing has happenned here - I mean this place is only a year old and the wealth of information is amazing. And one of the better things IMHO is the use of the forums, so that folks can correct innacuracies, expand on an article or just offer an opinion.

I know that what I've just said is obvious, but I'm still amazed at what has been achieved so far, and even more amazed at the potential for future growth.
