Hi Jim Lad! Sounds very pirate-like, doesn't it? I'm very tempted to shout "a-hoy there!". So, what do you want to be called - Jim Lad, or Chris?
I'm Bluebottle, or Matt, and I'd just like to welcome you to the guide, and generally be both helpful and nosey. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and be prepared to know that I'm planning on asking what part of the UK did you live in, and where in SA are you now?
If you'd like to meet more people on the guide, then I recommend you head down to our Beach:

So, hope to see you around

Arrr - Shiver me Timebers mateys. Yes, the first topic I looked for was South Africa, to see what the folks had to say about this great land (I actually, by some strangely fitting quirk of fate, ended up at an article about Toilet Paper, but the less said about that the better), and I was very impressed to see the discussion about beer, which is, after all, the only thing (other than cricket or rugby) that is of any importance to a red blooded South African !!!!

So what is the South African News saying about Cronje then?

It's actually quite a mix up and different papers/radio stations/web pages seem to have different stories. As far as I can make out what happened was as follows:
Friday - accusation from India regarding match fixing - denied by Hansie
Monday - Hansie speaks to cricket board
Tuesday - Cricket board announces that Hansie told them he'd received money for providing info about one of the matches in the England/Zim/SA triangular series.
Tuesday - Hansie denies that he told the cricket board he received money, and says he spoke to people here and in India about fixing matches and providing info, but did not agree to or do anything about it.
This may or may not be what happened, as the press is very sensationalist, an everyone seems to be knocking the bloke without anybody actually knowing all the facts - whatever happened to innocent until proven guily ? Has everybody forgotten that this is the man who built up our team to be one of the best in the world ?
Anyway, we now face Australia, later today, with Sean Pollock at the helm, and the press is going to tear the poor man to pieces if we lose.
The other point of view, of course, is that Krikkit is a barbaric ritual in rather poor taste and should be banned from the galaxy.

No just wanted some sort of feed back from down there.
Here the news said he took the money but hasn't deposited it.
That he 'fessed up to the board.
It sounds to me like a repeat of "I did not enccage in sex with *that* woman." When will celebs ever learn? NO on second thoughts without their buffonery there would be no tabloid press.
