Something about Word-Lover

Hello, ! Welcome to my h2g2 Personal Space. May I give you a welcoming Mustardland-style {{{hug}}}, or an h2g2-style if you prefer?

I am a Mustardlander. We are a community of people who meet on messageboards to discuss The Archers and other things. Our main meeting place is the BBC's Archers messageboards. We call it Mustardland because of its background colour. Some of us also use Peet's Mustardland which Peet set up for us when the BBC was about to close our former home.

In case you are wondering why I list nobody under MY FRIENDS: I use MY CONVERSATIONS to locate those threads I have posted to. MY CONVERSATIONS is of some use (despite its asinine half-hearted attempt at indicating which forum a thread is on), but is cluttered with the junk of journal entries of h2g2 users that are among "my friends", regardless of the fact that I never subscribe to any of these journal entries. It seems that the only way to deal with this h2g2 bug is to empty MY FRIENDS. Sorry, friends; I'm still friends with you; it's just that h2g2 is not friends with me.

I have deleted my journal, too. On the rare occasions when I have anything of interest that deserves a wider readership, it is Mustardlanders, not h2g2 people, who deserve to be able to read it.

Because DNA, on which Mustardland now runs, is overdependent on h2g2, we Mustardlanders are forced to use h2g2. To help us find each other in that confusing tangle of web pages, we use the Mustardland Mustering Station, which Katy has helpfully set up for us.

In Mustardland, I am known as "Word-Lover" because of my love of many forms of wordplay.

I enjoy playing Scrabble. I play at a local Scrabble club, where my mean score per game is about 370, which is about the club average. If you fancy a game of human-v-computer Scrabble, why not come and join us here?

Among the sorts of wordplay I like are anagrams, word squares and some far more esoteric than that. I have written articles about wordplay (though not for h2g2, yet) and solve cryptic crosswords when I get the time.

Here are some word squares. They are regular word squares, which means that the down words are the same as the across words.

Many areas of recreational maths interest me, too, and that trick that many h2g2 researchers do, as shown in the box, fits into that category.
