True, Ormy. The pool of available single women without kids in tow is much more shallow when you're looking at 40-something rather than twenty-something, but there are plenty of parents who by their mid to late 40s have children who are already in their late teens/early twenties and have moved away from home - empty nesters 
You and I need to find a woman, a single and/or divorced mother, whose children have moved away and who is looking for new things to... interest her
And she has to be wealthy

This type of thing was one of the reasons that LHG was, at the time, such a good catch - a career woman of a similar age to myself, who came without a shred of maternal instinct.

The slightly lucky thing I have on my side is that I took an extra year to do my A-Levels and then another one to get through University (a bizarre combination of getting depressed and having too much fun...) which means that I'm older than most of my mates. I think I'm only the second person out of my University friends to meet this milestone, so maybe the nesting thing that sprout mentioned is about to happen to us all.
A couple of are planning to get married next year, but apart from them everyone still seems reasonably normal...

Happy belated birthday, Number Six. I remember my 30th birthday, I was pleased as punch to be carded at the bar (the drinking age here is 21). I'll be 33 this spring, but can still easily pass for 23 or so. Which led me to toy with the idea of checking out some younger men (especially as I've not had to hit the biological snooze bar as of yet), until I started dating my sweetie six months ago and decided he's too much fun not to keep around.
I hope you're getting rehydrated and recovering nicely from the birthday fun, and I'm sorry I didn't get around earlier to wish you a happy birthday.
