Hi, I'm amazed, you're the first person I've, like, ever come across who recognizes the reference. You're right, it is from Katherine Kerr. I love the books and am desperately awaiting the next (although I havent checked lately) but I'm being physically dragged to the bar, so I'd better stop.

They are good. The first series of books - Daggerspell, Darkspell, Dawnspell and Dragonspell - was definatly the best. The circle of life came through very well in them, and the world seem very 'realistic' - well as realistic as a fantastic place could be - but the way the people lived definatly seemed to be dark ages (especially the first book) - the lord with the warband of seven was excellent And do not let me get started on the magic system. One of the best I have ever read (and as you may well guess I have read a fair amount Hmmmmm, maybe I will write an article on it instead
