Blame it on U6th! smiley - smiley

Yes, I'm a fellow Pern fan, I don't know how many of us there are now.. more than I'm aware of though, I'm sure. smiley - biggrin

I have a fire lizard! Except it's a beanie baby: be nice to have a real one! smiley - winkeye

I am now doing 4 A2s, one of which is the dreaded maths, I've been cast as Macbeth in the school play "Cahoot's Macbeth," and I'm and NCO in the RAF CCF (Cadet force), so I've got to prepare a lecture on principles of flight for those damn M5th tomorrow :S :S :S :S

I still spend WAAAAAYYYY too much time on h2g2 tho!!

I have 1 mate at school who knows all the Pern books- we occasionally make sarcastic comments or cryptic references, then go on to lament how much cr*p our heads are filled with!

I'm crew on the Blood of the Zaphodistas, smiley - pirate (cabin 500, go look me up!,) but in that, I HAVE a fire-lizard. He's a brown called Roke (spot the EQUALLY sad reference smiley - winkeye I love self-depreciatory stuff...) and the rest of the crew seem to like him- he's certainly quite a conversation piece. smiley - winkeye

*Roke appears seemingly out of thin air and settles on Munch's shoulder, eyes fading from green to blue, Munch strokes his eye-ridges, he croons quietly*

It wouldn't be breaking copyright if we talked about Pern a little would it... or a lot? smiley - winkeye

Mind you, I do all the time, so I hope not!

My little fire lizard's called Tiro (pronounced Tier-roe), he just sits there. He's... well, I guess he's a brown too, but he's kind of multicoloured (bit like a darker coloured Ruth!). No red on his body though, which is good! smiley - biggrin

I've managed to introduce 3 friends to Pern, but they're not quite as bad/mad as me! Still trying my best though!!! smiley - biggrin
How many Pern books have you read/got? I've them all now, and the CD of music.

Anyway, to RL *shudders*. Well done for the casting! I think the biggest part I've ever had in a play was as an angel in my primary school's nativity play! smiley - biggrin And for the A2'S! I don't know how you can manage it! I'm doing 3: Geography, Design and Art, and I've got far more than enough with those! smiley - smiley
Hope the lecture went okay!

Hiya again IE- quicker response this time smiley - winkeyesmiley - laugh

Surely they can't litigate if we TALK about them!! smiley - erm Maybe in America.... are you in America?

A darker coloured Ruth?? smiley - laugh Ahh, nothing compares to a conversation between two Pern fans, does it? smiley - biggrin I think you're the bigger fan tho... smiley - ermsmiley - smiley

Come visit me on the Blood of the Zaphodistas (Cabin 500). Light's been feeding Roke pork scratchings, which the poor little thing's going to regret because of course they don't digest fat at all well (Low body fat and high muscle obviously!!) (People like me think about these things smiley - winkeyesmiley - laughsmiley - geek !!!) Never mind, he's intelligent enough to know..... where to go. smiley - winkeye

I'm ashamed to admit I own very few Pern books- the last two, I think, and I've got dragonsong somewhere... I've read quite a lot, but they all blur togther.. smiley - laugh. Sorry, I'm smiley - laughing an awful lot tonight- I'm in a humorous mood.

Thanks! hmm, Macbeth. The thing about Cahoot's Macbeth is that quite a bit of it is in "Dogg", IE nonsense dialect where "Cretinous Pig-faced git" means- 'what's the time please, sir?' and "Afternoon squire" means "Get stuffed you smiley - bleep" !!! I can visualise the audience wetting themselves.... smiley - biggrin

>> And for the A2'S! I don't know how you can manage it!

I don't know that I can smiley - ermsmiley - yikes uurgh soo much work I don't want it I don't smiley - sadfacesmiley - sadfacesmiley - sadface aaaargh smiley - grr nooo!!!! Never mind, I've got the wonderful ppl on h2g2 to cheer me up smiley - smiley

Ahh, so you're in A2s too! I may have known that once... I've forgotten! Sorry!

Lecture was OK- they're not a bad bunch with the exception of the tall one with the stupid hair, the short ugly one with freckles and the blond little smiley - bleep.... never mind, I'll have them lined up and shot!

OK see you around.... here smiley - smiley Hey- A2s, that means you're in the UK too! (Hence not in America) smiley - doh Cool.

OK, see ya smiley - hug

hi, would it be rude of me to join this conversation? i am also a pern fan, i have a dragon called Trudy, she's a gold but lives in the world on the other side of the multi dimentional portal in my fridge and its more of a cross referencial thing. I'm a year below you though doing ASs and already the workload is stupidly large, especially art. Paint fish she says, as if it were an easy thing to do. but i digress. no wait. that was it.

No, certainly not- there seem to be an awful lot of Pern...people on H2G2. Sooo... presumably YOU can fit through the fridge but she can't smiley - winkeye...

can we have an indication of your gender? I'm pretty sure I know, but I'm too embarrassed to risk getting it wrong smiley - winkeye

I see you mention Farscape on your personal space- aaahahahahaaa smiley - laugh ! I watch that too! Ohh dear ohh dear oh dear. I love it really... smiley - ermsmiley - laugh.... it seems to alternate between seriously good stuff (especially Moya and Talyn!) and some of the most cliched, tacky.. (eg aurora chair episode) ... but I digress.

Expensive graphics though. I like that.

Actually it's a source of endless amusement to my friends and I because I can do a pretty good D'Argo impersonation... which only about 2 of my friends get- how embarrassing... smiley - laugh

Anyway, that's enough about Farscape. Yes.. um. Pern. Yep. I love the eyes thing. And the whole combination friendly-telepathic-teleporting-being-a-dragon-which-is-so-cool thing.
smiley - smiley

OK that's enough of me for a while smiley - smiley How are your ASs? Which are you doing? You doing Young Enterprise smiley - winkeye ?

whats young enterprise? not something to do with star trek? i'm female, have i not said that anywhere? how careless of me. i'm doing art, media, english lit and maths stat ASs, which doesn't seem an especially bad choice so far. Yes farscape, i know what you mean about the cliches but i really like the characterisation and eratic plot lines. No, it would be inconvenient for trudy to come through to my kitchen. maybe one day i will memorise brighton sea front and bring her through there, scare the tourists. I haven't read all the off the timeline pern ones like moretta's ride. only the main storyline and dragonsdawn and that one about Robinton's early life. My favourites are really the menolly ones, i've read those several times.

Young Enterprise is where you spend a year (L6th) playing business- you sell shares to poor fools lowed down in the school, have board meetings, argue, joke, p**s about, produce a little stuff, sell even less, waste the year, total up your accounts, embezzle, run away with the cash and buy beer and the share-holders are lucky to get anything back. Hmm. But they SAY it's worth 2 GCSEs. smiley - smiley

I guessed you were female from your matter, but I don't think you said for sure.

Interesting. Media? That's not a choice we get- what's in that?
Hmm, the way my courses have worked out, I'll be starting statistics in a few months. Erk smiley - erm - smiley - yikes!

You're right- Farscape does have some... interesting plotlines. And the bits where Mr. Bondage starts p**sing about inside Crichton's head wearing a tux, for example, are quite amusing. smiley - smiley

You certainly WOULD give the tourists a bit of a shock - hey.. I've effectively memorised my school (obviously...) Oh wait- could you make it to Brighton? How far is it? I assume Trudy's in some kinda parallel space... anyway.

Hmm. I dunno. I ain't read too many of the books. The politics with the Oldtimers REALLY confused me- although I eventually worked out what an "Oldtimer" WAS!.... hmm. ok. smiley - laugh

hmmm, i suppose the time between might be substantial, i'm not sure exactly where the land on the other side of the fridge is, i just go there. my matter? yeah, i love the freaky bits in farscape, its much more psycho than other scifi, i like anything a bit scewed, out of the ordinary you know? have you read any Katharine Kerr?

Pern, HHGTTG...

Post 11

Munch Dûnadan, The Technical Cynical Heifer & Actor

I guess that would be something of a problem, unless you conveniently found some ancient space-suits.. smiley - winkeye

Farscape's a bit of a laugh really. I had the subtitles on once- they came up with

smiley - hugsmiley - winkeye

ORGASMIC CRIES

which made me laugh. Interesting with the two Crichtons and the stone-paper-scissors... I haven't read any Katharine Kerr, perhaps I should!

Cheers-...

hehe, reminds me of an instruction on a mock german oral test card my friend had. it read simply "express pleasure"

Katharine Kerr's not very freaky, i just was thinking on the lines of fantasy authors.

I dread to think about the mock german thing!!! smiley - winkeye
Ooh Backlog!!!

Right:
1) Heya good plan! Sorry I've not spoken since you joined the conversation, no offense meant! smiley - grovel
2) You did Young Enterprise too, Munch?! Which area board? *Gets excited.* What did you make? Did you go throught to any of the finals? (i.e: Might I have met you?) *Breathe!* smiley - biggrin
3) I must admit to not being a Farscape-watcher. However my friend Chazlet56 loves it. If she's still around send her over to say hi! smiley - smiley

Only if you 1) made lots of money, 2) got into the finals, or 3) had a hell of a lot of spare time you were wondering what to do with. (i.e. not when you're doing AS levels).

But I enjoyed it!!! smiley - biggrin How about you Munch?

spare time? that word phrase evokes forgotten emotions, i'm sure i knew what that was, oh so long ago. well, over summer when i had copious amounts and how i wasted it!

Pern, HHGTTG...

Post 18

Insane Endeavour

I didn't even have spare time over even the y11-y12 summer! I worked at school (yes, you read that right, yes, I am mad!) for five weeks! And then I had to do the evil homework that my teachers, knowing I was doing their subject in year 12, gave me!!!

I'm looking forwards to this summer! Time to waste!!! Yey!!! :D

was that retakes? my school didn't have a sixth form, even if it did i think i'd have gone to college, i think i'd still feel like i was at school if i stayed

Pern, HHGTTG...

Post 20

Insane Endeavour

No, I just literally worked! My school ran courses for year 5 - 9, so I helped out, as an assistant teacher! (And got paid! smiley - winkeye )

I kind of didn't want to leave the school just yet. Being an ambitious type, I'd wanted to be head girl, and so wanted to stay on so there was a chance. And my school offered each subject I wanted to do, so there was little point.
