Hi Clive,

I've come here because of something that has disturbed me a bit. At the end of a post giving me points in your latest (wonderfully baffling) QI you bunged in the surfer smiley. I am a bit Aspergic (not sure if that's a word, but it should be), and sometimes misunderstand social cues. I was worrying that you thought that I was surfing to come up with my answers. I don't. I have a lot of random stuff in my head, which is usually buried under loads of other rubbish. I really enjoy the QI environment. Having set rules makes it especially good for me, and breaking those rules would render the whole thing pointless. If I've got it wrong, I'm sorry.

I didn't know you were aspergic hd. smiley - smiley

I'm dyspraxic and fall on the autistic spectrum too. I have all sort of issues with social cues too but I'm getting better.

The surfer was just to give the idea of waves and water - so as an aide to thinking about what dehydration might imply.

It wasn't a metaphor for surfing for clues. MMF tried that earlier and triggered, I thought, a well-deserved klaxon for posting a list despite me saying not to!

Alas they did also kind of get a right answer which I have to ackowledge but the *real* true and final answer has yet to be guessed by anybody!

Wow. QI is certainly back with a bang. I first spotted 'Gourmet' at 52 posts, threw in a guess(which happened to be rightsmiley - cool) and went to bed, came back and it was finished. And then the sound one. 400 posts in what? 36 hours or less? Splendid stuff. They've been great questions, but I think also that people are in the mood for something other than "Woe is us, we're being sold off". Anyway. Well done. I had trouble keeping up just for a few minutes, it must have been absolutely frantic for you. smiley - bubblysmiley - alesmiley - cheerssmiley - cake

"I think also that people are in the mood for something other than "Woe is us, we're being sold off"

Yeah exactly, I'd had a bit of dearth of inspiration after Christmas, but I'd been reading and mentally noting down anythign I happened across for future QI fodder, so that's what's been fuelling my own resurgent renaissance. And as you say I figured we could do with dispelling all this navel gazing misery.

I'd love to have something constructive to say in those threads about where we take this website post Beeb - but what do I say that isn't already being said? Besides which I think I've kind of found my level doing this, and if that helps buoy people up, then I'm being useful afterall.

The Sound QI HAS been manic - I mean Holy Crap I had no idea it would get like that!! smiley - yikes

Remind me to never, ever, ever, try anything like that ever again. smiley - winkeye
