Hi Terry, didn't see this message - just found it ! smiley - biggrin

If you need any help the ACE who greeted you is good first port of call. They are a member of a volunteer service who help new arrivals get settled in. If they don't know they know someone who does. I'm a former (retired) ACE so I keep the badge, and I'm willing to help out too. just drop me a line.

All the stuff on my page is done using the Guide's coding language GuideML. It's really intuitive to use, and dead simple once you get the hang of it.
GuideML It's a bit like HTML but easier, the gist is: you can use tags around text to get it to do things.

This includes emboldening, italicising, indenting and introducing pictures and links.

i.e to bold this word I would type:

to bold this word.

And it doesn't get much more complicated than that. smiley - magic

This is a the oasis of GuideML knowledge:

Explains all the tags, what they do and even to make it even easier each page has a box to copy and paste the code directly onto your space. (make sure to switch it into GuideML mode when editing!)

This is the pictures archive where you can prettify your space once you're done decorating. smiley - artist

Also at the top of my page I've got links to change the 'skin' of the site - there are a few different modes that h2g2 can appear in. The default is Brunel. But my own preference is Goo or Plain. But click around those and see which one you fancy. You can make the change manually in preferences.

If you want to steal anythign off my page you've taken a fancy to. you can look at the code of a user page by deleting the U bfore the U number and typing "testuserpage"without the quotation marks.

This will reveal the coding on any user page if you want inspiration for who something was done.

To do the same on any article (any A number page) even simpler: delete the A in the address bar and replace with "test" and you'll be able to do the same there too.

I think that's probably quiet enough to be getting on with. smiley - winkeye

Happy hunting!
