Hi Clive, I'm procrastinating and decided to post to your space in the vague random hope that something productive might come of it! I'm still thinking about Story Time III, but I've not come to any decisions yet...

So I thought I'd try and create a conversation that maybe people in years to come will say - that really changed things! Or maybe I'll fail, but in either case. How are you? And what is on your mind?

Absolutely! I too am procrastinating. I have this problem with ST3 where I know more-or less what I need to do, but I need to be spurred on to write it, my attempts so far flounder.

On my mind is preparing for a job interview.

Ah... job interviews... my experiences are mixed, and half the time it seems to be either down to luck or your face fitting...

Soooo what in particular are you struggling with STIII-wise?

Well..now where's that list I wrote out before?


1.Ody and Jamilla escape

2.Arthur and Daltmooreby discuss Daltmooreby's secret mission.

3. Daltmooreby reveals his double agent status but also his decision to destroy the agency anyway.

4. Arthur has to stop him. (in weightless slow-mo action)

5. The laser misfires (Because Daltmooreby installed the fake diamond) and eliminates the cult's base in Antarctica.

6. Daltmooreby dies (or does he?)

7. The laser explodes.

8. Grobsvaughn dies and goes to Egyptian paradise.

9. Arthur and X return to Earth.

10. Arthur and Anna are reunited, Arthur retires. X leaves.



Re: 1. I changed the death of Grampling to well re-introduce simplicity, two characters are easier to write about than three, and he'd served his major purpose which was to disrupt Annabel's speech. I introduced the blackout caused by the electrical charge, to be a cover for Sreka to sneak into the area, unseen and unwritten about. That way we can move him out of the shadows whenever we wish or even re-play the scene from Sreka's P.O.V, watching them treat Grampling etc.

The destinations are: the train they board leaves the base just in time to avoid the destruction of the base by the space laser. Assuming Sreka re-appears now they fight and the train crashes into a base underneath the library of congress in Washington DC and all three escape. ODy and Jamila resolve to find the turquoise moon diamond after learning of Arthur's 'death' and will reappear in the coda, finding it where ever it is we put it.


Re: 2 -7 Inclusive. Are all predicated upon, Arthur, Daltmooreby and X getting into space. They were last seen leaving the Earth's atmosphere in a rocket from The South Pole. It's this bit I'm having difficulty getting my head round because 2-7 inclusive I've got something to work around but there's this big blank spot about the getting there. Normally I'd just cut it out and have a kind "moments after docking in space" moment - just to get round my block - but the journey up is the last bit of exposition we get before the ending starts to unwind, I want to make sure we've set up Daltmooreby's reversal and Arthur's loss of Anna, and role in widowing Daltmooreby are properly set up. Not for want of trying, I'm having difficulty getting this written. 5-7, there is some material from legion that reintroduces Bob and Heddingly vacationing in the Med, which belongs about here.

Re: 8. This is Von Trapp's death in reverse. His passage through that Halls of two truths (google it) is passed successfully by Grobsvaughn because he's a True Believer.

Re: 9-10. I think we've pretty much got this worked out, and will be easy to write once I get there. IT's the getting there that's hard at the moment.

In summary:

I'm stuck getting Arthur and X to space.

I put in a confrontation between Mary and Annabel but couldn't do anything with it. MY guess is their brawl distracts them for so long that when the laser fires and begisn to destroy the base, they run to a viewing platform just in time to be the wittiness to the destruction of Alpha base and The Cult. Only Sreka, who fled with Ody and Jamila (and Daltmooreby who's death will be inconclusive survive in any sense.
