h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Sounds like a plan!!! Er, wouldn't it be a better idea if you taught her how to tune her guitar? How can she practice?!? I always have to tune mine, alittle one way or another, esp if I use a capo.

I don't know how to tune guitars! I just know mine's in tune so I can base it on that!

Oh dear...I'd bet, if you were to take your guitar into a music store there'd be a nice fellow who could show you how to tune it! Without mine in my hand I'd probably tell you wrong...the 1st & 6th strings must match, one octive apart...when there's a 'ring' when they are both plucked...they match. Then w/ your finger on the 6th string, 3rd fret or is it the 4th fret? Listen & you'll know which) it should match exactly the 5th string & it goes on like that, I think it's the 2cd string that you change to-your finger on either the 2cd or 4th fret to match the 1st string...you'll know when you hear it!!! It's very easy, once you learn. If you're serious about music-this is a must!!! There are times when you're all tuned up, on the way out to the stage & someone knocks into your guitar...sometimes you HAVE to tune up right on stage!!!

I hope that never happens!

Thing is today my mum said I can join the band but we're not going as far as record deals! That's it! She's only saying OK to that fact I can be in one as my brother was in one for a while so it would be unfair if she didn't let me, but I'm slightly upset

Now that is very interesting because for a while on MSN messenger Jeni (the lead singer of the band) had the name of Fallen Angel! Isn't that weird? We actually had to perform and record something for a music assessment yesterday and Jeni sang and I played the guitar. Jeni really has the most fantastic voice, it's different from the normal humming we are used to hearing. Everyone apparently was staring at her in awe as they didn't realise she had that voice! Really, she needs someone to tell her!

My mum is starting to ease up a bit. She said that if we have any mini gigs she'd support me, I think that really she only says it's OK because she let my brother do the same thing when, I think he was about 17 or 18!

Honey, I'm going to tell you the truth about Jeni...she knows that she has a lovely voice. She gets more attention by pretending to deny it.
I don't know why she's doing this because I don't know her. She may even have a fear of sucess. It's VERY common. Only SHE, in her own time, will decide to go on with her music or seak another path. It's nice that you tell her how beautiful she sings. But perhaps more pressure is not what she needs just now. And since she's never E'd me,
I'd feel like I was intruding in her space if I were to go there now.

when I'm on h2g2, but the storms scare me away from the 'puter by the picture window! Been hit by lightening once! Once IS enough...it's not like seeing Skandal! Anyway to borrow or rent a vidio camera?!? Just a thought! This should prove to be VERY interesting...

Hmmm.....there's likely to be about 25,000 people there that day so I wouldn't want to take anything too valuble.......I'm definately gonna take a camera, maybe a disposable one, and I'd love to take a pair of binoculars, but they are my brother's and I fear for my life if anything happens to them....

I HAVE to go mad when I see Skandal! I have to let it out or I just get even worse! Last time I was right at the front and screaming my head off!!!!! I love 'em all to bits! They are the cutest guys EVER!!!! James has to be the cutest out of them all! Ah, he's got such a lovely smile!!!! Infact they all have! *goes off dreaming again*
