Firstly your nails...there's stuff they rub onto horse hooves, can't remember the name...but the lady who invented it found that her normally ugly nails, were becoming strong & lovely whilst rubbing the stuff on her horse's cracked hoove!!! In theUS they sell it for big money for a small amount, That's how I began to make mine so long/strong.
Bear HATES my nail polish! Hates my pierced ears...hasn't said much about my tatoos...but what good whould it do as they are here to stay! HA!
I don't know the names of Mike's plays...I'll call his sister Janet & ask...if she's ever home. She's a good friend but a busy nurse.

Sorry not to have been back to you - daughter's home!! Need I say more? We're off to that show tomorrow night, so I'll let you know how we spent 2 days in London.
What's the nail strengthener actually called? Could I get here in UK?
LoL

...been trying to remember...I bought mine on the Home Shopping Network...it's in a small bottle, dark brown liquid. But I've since spoken to a neighbor who has 8 horses. Kathy said that ANYthing for horse hooves will heal your hands & nails!
Can hardly wait to hear what you girls did on your adventure!

At long last, I return!!!
Thanks for the names Pan, I'll ask in my local herbal shoppe.
R's taken some photos of me with his digital thingy. I put them on the computer - all I could see were lines! However ....... there's these clever little programmes that kinda smudge out the lines, so i think I'll be experimenting on the photos. I given up on myself - pots & potions don't seem to be doing any good any more! AND I'm beginning to go grey! Oh Lordy, Lordy!!!!

OK - I'll look into some gentle dyes - "Me? dye my hair? I never have!!!!" Well that's what I've always been able to say up to now, so maybe people will still believe me - I have got an honest face so I'm told
Sounds like you're still trucking along fairly fine!
just met a guy who bought a painting of a wolf at our exhib - he's "into" red indians c.mid 1970s to mid 1980s. Apparently he takes part with a gang of enthusiasts re-living the time!! I'm going to ask him to sit for a portrait group in all his "authentic" type gear! Well I'd love the real thing, but there aren't many over here - unless you know different?

Hi there
URGENT - Is it true that American Indians do not grow facial hair? If so, any ideas why?
Need to know ASAP!!!

Mass quanities of testosterone!!!!!! It's true.
They 'use' to have such a high amount of the manly hormone because of the lifestyle. I.E., hunting.....running for your live, etc.
This is today known as the 'Fight or Flight' syndrome. It causes bursts of adrenalin that the people could fight to the death or run like the Dickens to get away from danger.

The Fight or Flight syndrom is quite well known as regards adrenalin.
However, surely large amounts of testosterone would cause more hair growth, ie: women with a hormonal imbalance growing beards!!!
Do you think, maybe, it is more to do with genetics? I heard there is another race of peoples (don't know who or where) that also don't grow facial hair.
How can we find out? Do you know any uni. profs. dedicated to the subject?
Maybe it's down to the lost race of peoples that travelled the world before civilisation as we know it?!!!!
Thanks for coming back so fast.

Okey-doky.
I KNEW I needed to qualify the testosterone answer. Yes...it's in their jeans/genes *giggle* You see...what I've been told & can verify a bit myself, is that "Red Indians" (Red Skins - a slang/not PC) The hormones are so high (were) that the hair on their heads grew very quickly...and certain organs were larger, thusly the testosterone was channeled differently. It also had to do with diet. (I was 'just' talking this over with a doctor I know)
The women also didn't have leg or under arm hair...or at least if they did it was baby fine & not really visible. The same really w/the men...some had soft...pubesant type facial hair. But for all intents they really didn't have facial hair, to speak of.

Thankee for that. R's a bit happier with that answer!! (He used to teach Human Biology!) Ahem!
The guy I was talking about before IS going to sit for us in his Indian outfit, probably next February when the weather is cooler - he reckons the stuff his wife has "authentically" hand-made is really hot to wear! Unfortunately, he has a full grown white beard, so although he has a deep interest in the subject, cannot be fully authentic himself - he likes his beard too much & is now thinning on top!!!
We managed to sell 17 pictures at the exhibition & collected £128 for Macmillan Cancer Fund (Macmillan organise specialised nurses & homes to care for cancer sufferers). So, all in all, pretty good for us!
Now just got to do all the acounts for the show, the year & book demos for next year, make a new members card, do the minutes from 3 months ago, prepare another members letter with entry forms for the winter exhib - then I can go away at the beginning of August for 3 weeks with my mind clear!!!
All for now - got to get out the calculator

Way to go Shirps! Cheers It sounds like a wonderful charity!
I must say...Mountain Men wore hand made skins...bought & traded for Indian clothes & other needful things. So, why not include the beard? And...some Indians DID have beards. It all depends on how far back you go. Modern day Natives have much more facial hair than their grandfathers! Are you re-confused? (please give my hello to R.)
Pandora
Shirps Posted Jul 3, 2001
Gave R more than your "hello" That'll keep you guessing!!!
There you go - first bit of real info the Red Indian theme! Exactly who were the Mountain men (don't just say they lived in the mountains .. please!)
R & I's 7th anniversary tomorrow - well, I take it from when he rang & first asked me out!! It was also his mother's birthday, Liz's graduation day & now, her boyfriend's graduation day!!! Oh, did I say he managed to get a 1st in his Physics Masters degree? Aren't they clever these young'uns!!!
Afore you say it, I know it is also Independance Day in America - hmph!!

Hello Pandora ....... er, it's me .......... you remember me, don't you?
SO MANY APOLOGIES for not being in touch. How are you? Really, how are you?
You were completely right: This chap takes the part of a French Mountain Man, Henry Frappe, he is a member of the "Frontiers Mens Guild" re-enactment soc.
Daughter & boyfriend are in the process of buying a flat - crikey, the cost of these places!!!!
My dad has taken a turn for the worse - he doesn't seem to be in our world at all now, but completely within himself & also very ill. I take a deep breath each time the phone rings.
All for now - just to let you know I am still here!!
Lol
