Hi there... ~grin~... just stopping by to make sure that you are happy in you new home... ~Greebo glances around Eyeore's homepage... checking for dust and such~
Hmmm... is that doughnuts me smells??? ~hopeful grin~... would be nice to eat a doughnut about now...
Greetings Eyeore...
Eeyore Posted Mar 9, 2000
Eeyore thanks Greebo for the Greeting, and apologises for the lack of Hospitable Doughnuts ~ mournful grin ~ but Eeyore's only just moved in.
I don't like to complain, but it's just like People to Catch One on the Hop while still Doughnutless.
Greetings Eyeore...
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 10, 2000
No worries... ~grin~... me can go without until you get a supply in....

Didn't mean to interrupt, but I just happened to overhear the conversation. Would you like some milk to go with your doughnuts?
Greetings Eyeore...
Eeyore Posted Mar 14, 2000
Yes, please. Eeyore loves milk. What a Hospitable Lot! It's getting quite Cozy down here. I've been Exploring. Jenny and Fred the Cheese not only have tasty Doughnuts, but a Tasty Home Page, too.
Greetings Eyeore...
Jenny and Fred the cheese Posted Mar 14, 2000
oooooh thankyou and many thanks for the milk, surely it is drink of the gods and perfect with donuts. Am i spelling that right? i always feel doughnuts has more dough to it but wherever i go people say donuts to me. oh well spelling is irrelevant anyhow
Greetings Eyeore...
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 15, 2000
~Greebo guzzles the milk greedily ... grin~ However doughnuts are spelt... they taste grrrrrrreat.... Oh Poot... me is sounding like Tony The Tiger Now!!!!
Greetings Eyeore...
Kheldar (Don't hate the media, Become the media) Posted Mar 15, 2000
Agreed on the spelling being irrelevant. As long as they taste good (can't remember the time a doughnut didn't taste good though ), what's in a name, right?
Greetings Eyeore...
Jenny and Fred the cheese Posted Mar 18, 2000
would a doughnut taste as sweet were it called by another name, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... indeed if we put a cat and a doughnut in a box would the cat eat the doughnut or wouldn't it, if we didn;t open the box how would we know *thinks for a moment* stupid question, of course the cat would eat the doughnut
Greetings Eyeore...
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 18, 2000
~grin~... well this cat would eat the doughnut anyway... and proberly really rather enjoy it... ~bigger grin~... but if you want to try the experiment for real... then go ahead and make my day...
Greetings Eyeore...
Eeyore Posted Mar 18, 2000
I don't think that would work at all. The idea of the original thought experiment was that nobody would know what had happened inside the box until it was opened. But in this new version Greebo would know what she was doing inside the box and the rest of us would have a Pretty Good Idea. I think we should place the doughnut on top of the box, so the rest of us could enjoy watching her eat it.

Jenny and Fred the cheese Posted Mar 18, 2000
the idea of the original thought experiment was to send up the idea that no-one would know and that therefore either could be happening in limbo or whatever. Everyone seems to asume that Shcrodinger believed the theory cos he didn't.
Greetings Eyeore...
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 19, 2000
~grin~... but how about if we change the thought... and have me placed in a gigantic bag containing several hundred doughnuts... hmmm.... that sounds a good experiment to me... ~Greebo nods her head happily~
Greetings Eyeore...
Kheldar (Don't hate the media, Become the media) Posted Mar 20, 2000
That would only work if we would place a time limit on the experiment.
Otherwise we'd all be old and grey before Greebo finished all the doughnuts we'd place in the bag .
Greetings Eyeore...
Eeyore Posted Mar 20, 2000
For the experiment to be truly scientific, we'd need a control. Another researcher, in a bag just as big, but with no doughnuts. Any volunteers?
Greetings Eyeore...
Jenny and Fred the cheese Posted Mar 20, 2000
if we are trying to find out which would eat more doughnuts there are other factors we might have to take other factors into acount, for example what if the scientist in the other bag posesed no doughnuts but had somehow sneaked in a large number of ingredients and a doughnut making machine
Greetings Eyeore...
Eeyore Posted Mar 24, 2000
If the scientist in the other bag is capable of making doughnuts out of raw materials, then he or she is requested to come round to Eeyore's place as soon as those in-bag duties are over, to carry out a Very Important Commission.
Greetings Eyeore...
GreeboTCat Posted Mar 24, 2000
If the researcher in the other bag can make doughnuts outta thin air... me really needs to meet them... ~grin~
