Hi Mike!
This is Miao Hongzhi, a newcomer to h2g2. Like you, I am currently living in China (Beijing) attending Beijing Daxue and doing my best to learn Chinese language and history. What brought you to HK? Are you studying, working, or travelliing? How did you become interested in Chinese, and -wow- where did you learn all of the dialect stuff? Most impressive!
I feel I owe you an apology; I posted an entry on "Tones in Mandarin" yesterday without checking out other entries first. I am very sorry about this sloppiness, and I hope I haven't caused offence. Zhen Duibuqi!
Like you, I am very interested in building up the Chinese language resources on the guide, as well as other Asian languages. History seems to be another area for development. Another question, of course, is about tones, romanization, and characters in the guide. I took a peek at some conversations on these subjects; how do things stand at present?
Anyway, I just wanted to stop by, say hi, and sorry about my oversight. Too much excitement for this Liuxuesheng!
Zai Jian,
Miao

Miao HongZhi hao!
Sorry for taking so many months to reply....this page has been kind of abandoned for some time now. I definitely wasn't offended....I love China, if other people love China, I'm happy
