i wonder, with cold hard consistancy, if water keeps getting hotter once it is boiling
i don't own or have access to a thermometer

I think that when it gets to a certin temprature, it can't stay liquid any more and becomes steam. Once it's steam, it escapes from the heat source, and begins to cool and condense. (assuming the water is in a teapot or a bathtub. If you bottle it up so it can't get away, the outward pressure of expansion eventually causes whatever it's in to explode. That is how the first steam driven engines worked. They transformed thermal energy (heat) into kinetic energy (movement)by using the pressure from the steam to push the pistons, which pushed something else, and eventually the kinetic energy got to whatever the engine was supposed to run. Steam is technically water though, so I think it can keep getting hotter. Why else would the words super-heated steam exist?
