Nice to meet you in the Masque. I do hope that you can join us in the main Atelier conversation.
Also feel free to talk iwth me about pretty much anything. I have been known to have insight on many things, tho mostly the insight is "Oh that's nice".

That's exactly the kind of insight I appreciate!
It was nice to meet you too, though I knew you a bit from lurking at the church of true brownie a year or two ago. I'm very glad things are settling for your mum. My mother's ill too so I know how it may be.
I'm always happy to discuss different matters, and will certainly come to the Atelier as often as I can, though I won't be able to be online much in the next few weeks.

great!
Ghost Dog on the tv tonight. A good film, quite subtle sometimes.
I saw in the Atelier that you were a LoTR fan. But did you really like the movie (FoTR)? I found it a bit disappointing...

Considering that the film is only 3 hours long (3.5 in the new DVD <grin> I think that Jackson did an excelent job in translating the book to film. I am astounded by it's quality and have made pains to make it to the premiere showing in my city.

Oh! I don't mind the cuts in the story, I understand them completely (though I heard in the Atelier about a particular reason for leaving the Tom Bombadil and Old Forest bit off, do you know why Jackson did it?) But it's on the artistic side itself that I had a few critics. I liked the Shire very much, but I didn't find Rivendell to my taste. Not what I'd call a 'homely' place... And I thought the main characters were not developped enough (Frodo, Aragorn, Sam). Gandalf was good, though.

Well, according to the interview on teh DVD Tom was cut dur to length and overall lack of impact to the story. It was too hard to get that in the film within their time budget.
I did not have a good mental image of rivendell, and truth be told I was looking far more closely at Liv Tyler as Arwen to really notice much else in Rivendell (yes I have an amazing crush on Ms. Tyler).

I can't blame you about that!
As for Rivendell, I had no precise image either (actually I have a problem with my 'visual sketchpad', and I can have mental images only very seldom, and all grey, and no shape, and... never mind!) It's only that this place is associated for me with the words 'the last (or the first) homely house', whereas it was a rather like a stiff castle, with harsh elves.
