I'm loosely affiliated with the British army... but I know rather a lot about it and other military things (for one reason or another)... you probably don't need any help any more, but if you do need any, I'd be happy to help.

Hi Njan,
Thanks for replying and no, I do need plenty of help still.
I have no connections with The Army at all, although I have button - holed a few poor squadies (actually they were great); but I'm well aware that I can make thousand stupid errors out of ignorance.
I should tell you right now that this isn't just an adventure story, but an atempt to explore Socratic morality. I figured that, in our society it would most likely be soldiers(specifically The Parachute Regiment), who were driven to the extremes necessary for my purposes.
Having said all that, I want people to read it, so the adventure element will be important.
What I'm most worried about, is characterisation. Will my people ring true as soldiers and for that I'd need you to read sections of the text and tell me how far off - beam I am.
Anyway, it's entirely upto you what you want to do.
Thanks for getting in touch and next time, I'll give you a plot outline.
Ian

No problem, always happy to help.
Right... If you're interested, I have a friend who was a captain in the army until several years ago...he might be ble to throw an interesting aspect on it, since she's not your normal army type, being pagan and all.
Yes, this is probably true, soldiers get driven to os of extremes.
well, if you want me to read bits of it, I'd b quite happy to.
I'm happy to help in any way possible. :-_
