I have applied, when the messages get slack ie controllable, I love to go off and welcome Newbies and make sure I do it well. I think it's the least we can do.

I wasn't being patronising it was just that all that was on your homepage wasn't very encouraging or welcoming. I was just trying to make someone feel welcome who didn't seem to belong. However as is often the case if someone new doesn't respond to the original message other's do tend to come by and hi-jack the thread.
