Just for your edification I ended up hacking off a whopping half foot or so of hair.

Shut up, I felt good, except that having done it on the spur of the moment it came out kinda bad... so there went another inch.

Now I am in active pursuit of a more interesting hair color

And a little sleep... ha right

Do you like your hair now that it's shorter? I've been wanting to cut mine, but I'm not gonna do it yet. What color are you thinking of dying it?

But why me?

I think black is a big enough first... and I've always wanted black hair, actually.

Yes. While it is still longer than most people it much nicer and somewhat manageable... ish.

If you dye your hair black it will be black for a long time. Until it grows out. But, black is a good color, I've had my hair that color many times. If you're not absolutey sure you want it black, I'd say dye it another color first (like red) and then if you don't like it, you can always dye it black then.

I'm glad that you like your hair shorter. It reminds me of P'hul's little sister. She called P'hul up and told her that she cut her hair and it was real short. P'hul asked how long it was and she said, 'as long as yours'. At the time P'hul and I both had hair a couple of inches past our shoulders, and we both considered that long.

To (re)grow my hair to this lengthwould take something like three years. So I suppose I will not start with black. Red is also good, actually... during the summer I get dark reddish highlights. But that's natural so it's not such fun.

The thing about my hair (I( can't believe I just said "the thing about my hair") is that the section on the bottom of the back of my head was shaved a couple months ago and is now about two inches long. So when I bundle up all the *long* hair it look suspiciously like my hair is, indeed, two inches long. People require proof, on occasion, that it is not...

If you want something a little bit more 'unnatural' you could go for a more burgandy or black cherry color one that will look kind of purple in the right light.

Who cares if people think your hair is two inches long. You could always shave it again. I'm tempted to shave the back of my head for summer, but I'm not going to. But it's going to be so hot. Argh.

I just read your journal entry about the protest in DC. That's really cool. I would have liked to see Michael Moore. Have you seen any of his movies?

Nopw. I actually didn't know who he was, not being a TV/movie person. At all. But it was explained to me, and now I am a believer.

I don't think I necessarily want an unnatural color. I mean hair dye is almost always visibly unnatural, but it's usually in colors that are possible. Which is a good place to start.

You should do it... it's SO much nicer. I'm telling you. It really is. Seriously.

You should rent 'Roger and Me', but be prepared to get really pissed off. I cried at the end of it.

I know how nice it is to have a shaved head. You gotta remember I've done most of the 'strange' hairstyles twice. When I was 17 I shaved it all off. And that was just so I could get a job! Once I'm sure I want to cut my hair, I'll start by just shaving the back. I'm very prepared for when I'm ready to cut it. I have a whole plan of different dye jobs and different cuts. But I'm holding off as long as I can, and if I shave the back now, it will be so much easier to cut off some more.

Full head shaved and undershave are totally different experiences, I have been assured.

(Although IMHO the latter has all the benefits of the former with none of the drawbacks.)

I will rent that sometime soon.

There's good points to both. When you have no hair, hats fit a lot better, but if you don't like hats that doesn't do you any good.

Let me know what you think of the movie once you see it.

What time did you get up? I can't really talk about being up so late, I didn't get up till after 6pm.

I got up at 10:15 AM yesterday.
