I'm sure the moral right was quite disturbed to find that one of their own might have a more open mind than the rest of them. smiley - winkeye

You have a superchristian friend? I suppose everyone does. In my experience (admittedly limited) they never change past a certain point.

Though I was baptised Catholic, I was never taken to church by my folks, and grew up with a healthy skepticism. One of my friends was raised by devout Catholics, and became Buddhist as a teenager. Engels is about the same as me; another friend, though I tried to stop it, became an *almost* devoted christian who loves god, and Christ, and thinks quite freqently that the rest of his friends are endangering their souls.

So how did this speaker 'reform' his homosexuality?

No problem on the length it took you to get back. I've had a cold irl. smiley - smiley

Really? I was feeling sick when I wrote my last post.

I had some friends turn christian all of a sudden too. Two who were pretty close friends if mine, and around five aquaintences (I no thatz rong). My best friend in high school, actually probably the best friend I've ever had when talking in that sort of mystical meant to be friends from the beginning way, was one of them.

Ack! Ive gotta do something. Be right back.

I cut myself shaving a couple of days ago and my band aid had just come off, so I had to go fix it.

OK, where was I? Oh yeah, Shelley. I knew that we were going to be best friends the first time I met her. She and I were inseperable for two years. Then I started going out w/my ex and moved to the north side of town (20 mins away). The distance and my ex's personality seperated me from most of my friends. So, I barely saw her for about three years. About two years ago, I heard that she had gone christian. I was like, 'NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!' (seriously, I really did that). I don't know who got her into it, but it was weird. I saw her once and talked to her about it and religion in general. I told her my spiritual beliefs (there is a higher power which has appeared to people, but the form it takes is entirely a human construct), to which she said, 'but Jesus is the way' and some more stuff which I have forgotten. I was really distressed by this, I almost cried.

The other good friend of mine was me and Josh's roommate. He kinda freaked out towards the end of the time we lived together. He was accusing us of going through his stuff and things like that (which we weren't doing). (I think it was the apartment, it had some weird vibes.) And soon after we moved out (Josh and I moved in w/his mom and Josh {they were both named Josh} moved in w/his parents) I heard that he'd gone christian. Now, this was a guy who questioned everything and was an altogether smart guy, so this really suprised me. I haven't really gotten to sit down and talk to him since then.

But, here is good news. Shelley came out of it. She has thrown out the idea of being a christian. She has incorperated the teachings of Jesus into her beliefs though, which I have no problem with. She is a spiritual person, but now she has her own view which takes things from many different religions. I've started hanging out with her again which makes me very happy. smiley - smiley

I think that both of them were looking for meaning in their lives and when someone told them that their way was the right way they took that and ran with it. I hope that Josh comes back, but I don't think he will.

Isn't it funny that we're talking about religion and it sounds like we're talking about our friends turning into crack heads or something (I actually have one of those too). But, it's kind of the same thing.

Have you been watching the academy awards?

lol. I've had this cold since the middle of the week. It's just starting to wear off.

Poor George (my friend christian boy). He'd go through these cycles, where he'd be a dope fiend (weed, lsd, minor experimentation) because he felt ostrasised (sp?) by god/society/etc, and this wonderful time when he would completely abstain from all that he enjoyed, because it showed his 'devotion' to god. He'd read the bible (not that I don't, but I read it for different reasons that he did). He went and joined the Army. Poor bastard...

ah, well. In a bit.

I'm glad Shelly turned around. Christianity is awfully conformist.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend though.

I don't know if I've told you this before, but I am absoulutely crazy about Trey Parker (of South Park fame). Seriously. I think he's brilliant and funny and just the best. Well, a song from the South Park movie got nominated for an Oscar. I had been wondering about who he would take with him and what he would wear. I was pretty sure that he would take Matt Stone, and I was right. But, I was (pleasantly) suprised by the way they were dressed.

Did you get to see them?

They were dressed better than I could have imagined. (Honestly I think that they have poor taste in clothes.) Matt was wearing what Gweneth Paltrow wore last year. And Trey was dressed up like Jennifer Lopez was at whatever awards show that was where she wore that green dress. Mark Shaiman (who co-wrote the soundtrack w/Trey) was dressed like a pimp.

I thought that was awsome. Those guys don't care what anyone thinks of them, they just do what they want. That's one of the many things I love about Trey. I seriously have a huge crush on him. The reason I took so long to respond is because I was at a website looking at pics of him. smiley - winkeye

And, this has nothing to do w/anything that came before except for one word, I saw what looked like a real pimp on friday.

Yeah! He was dressed all in blue with a cool blue hat and he had a cane and everything.

This is the second time I've come across a pimp in my life. The first time Shelley and I were on the way to a punk show and we didn't have any money. So we were stopping at gas stations and spanging.

(my thoughts on panhandling-I don't have any problems with people making money this way, however I do have a problem if they complain about their station in life or give people s*** if they don't give them anything. I think panhandlers play a big part in the upkeep of social psychology.)

We were sitting outside a convience store and this guy pulled up and came out and came over to us. He asked us why we were spanging and why we didn't have jobs. Then he asked us if we wanted jobs. Then he asked how old we were (me-17 Shelley-16) and when we told him he said that he needed to get out of there before he got arrested. It kinda freaked us out, but we also thought it was funny.

I gotta go. I have to get up in the morning and kill my roommate (I was just informed of a nefarious plot of his to leave his alarm clock on after he left in the morning).

And we've decided to let the pigeons roost on our window sill, as they may provide eggs for breakfast (although small). smiley - winkeye

The funniest thing about the award for best song is that They didn't think they would win (which they didn't) and they didn't care who won, as long as it wasn't Phil Collins. Wanna take a guess on who won? smiley - winkeyesmiley - sadface

I saw that in the paper (also pics of Trey, Matt, & Mike in their gettup). Typical. They pick the sappy stuff to win, but they can't be bothered to see the value in anything comedic. It's like they're stuck on drama.

Ah, I see you're on now, so I'll post this. I was gone when you last posted. smiley - smiley

I was just happy to get to see Trey and (with him as always is) Matt. (No wonder people think they're gay! smiley - winkeye ) I am serious about my love (I don't like to say that, I sound like a stalker. smiley - winkeye ) for Trey. I printed out a picture of him (and Matt) last night and put it in that little window they have on purses, to put your liscense in. I'm lookin' at it right now. *sigh*

So, did you get enought sleep last night?

Noon? Man, you get up early! smiley - winkeye Funny thing is I woke up at 11:30 this morning. But it was only because I had a horrible dream with TSB in it and couldn't stop thinking about it. smiley - sadface

These are the classes I've taken so far:
basics-
Engilsh comp and English Lit-I made A's in both of those. (I almost wrote, 'I got A's'. If I had you would be like, 'sure you did' smiley - winkeye )

Elementary and Intemediate Algebra-I did well in those but it doesn't matter since they're remedial courses and don't count. (If you wanna know why I had to take remedial courses, just remember that I had three insane years between high school and college.)

not exactly basics-
Sociology-I made an A in there as well. And I liked the teacher so much I took his class on

Cultural Anthropology-which I made a C in. (I think that's because class started at 11. smiley - winkeye )

Comparitive Religions-which I made an A in. Tought by this wonderful Indian lady, who I had for English comp. She loved my letter to the newspaper about that whole homosexual/christian thing, and told the whole class to read it. smiley - smiley

Psychology-which I made an A in, but I hated the class because it was full of people just like the one's I hated in high school.

This semester, I'm taking:
Astronomy-which I enjoy quite a bit.

Developmental Psych-which I like ok.

Photography-Oh, I have to take pictures before Wensday! I just took it because I wanted to take photography w/o having a crazy bitch for a teacher.

And, College Algebra-which I need to drop as soon as possible. I hate those damn calculators!

Well, if left to my own devices, I'd go to bed around eight or nine in the morning, and sleep until four or five in the afternoon...

And got is a perfectly good word. It save lots of time.

The math doesn't surprise me. My first (freshman) semester, I took calculus with this foreign professor who had a limited understanding of English and this overwhelming urge to use metaphors to teach. I droped the course and didn't feel compelled to take another math course until my fourth semester. I went back to pre-calc (stuff I should have already known, but conveinently forgot).

What type of pictures are you taking?

And you know, I *do* have experience with the damn calculators. Is your teacher trying to get you to program them or something?

No, sometimes I think that she doesn't even know how to use them. I think it may be her that makes things so hard, and that we only have class once a week.

The only pics I've taken for this class were for the first assignment, which was a self portritue (why can't I spell this? I tried it a bunch of ways just now, and none of them are right!). Those came out pretty good. The next assignments have to do with apeture settings. I have to have a set up with three people/things, one ten feet away, one 20 feet away, and one 30 feet away. For one assignment, I have to use a low/wide apeture setting and focus on the person/object in the middle, which will make the other two blurry. For the other one, I have to use a high/small apeture setting and focus on the middle one and everything should be in focus. I sure hope it's sunny tomarrow, because I'm gonna need lots of light for that second one.

I love photography! But, I really only like pics of people, even people I don't know. But I love all kinds of pics and the differences between them. For instance, you never look the way that you do in photo booth pics anywhere else. And polaroids take different pics than 35mil cameras (I'm just talking about the way the pic looks). And those disposable cameras take different pics than manual ones. I own five cameras; a Minlota srt 101, an old polaroid that's older than me, a new polaroid, a tiny 110 camera that's maybe two inches long (I've yet to take any pics with it), and my favorite of the moment, one of those new polaroid I-Zone cameras, the ones that take the little bitty pictures. It's like having a photo boothe you can carry around with you. smiley - smiley

Sorry to go on and on about photography. I just LOVE pictures (even more than Trey Parker {but, a picture OF Trey, that's different smiley - winkeye }). I have four albums full of pics and am about half way through a 5th. I look at them almost every day.

That's quite a few cameras. I only have a disposable, and that's half gone and from last year.

As for pics, I have a ton of party pictures of a bunch of drunks doing drunk things. Like falling down, etc.

The class sounds cool. smiley - smiley

Sorry I took off w/o warning. I had promised myself that I wouldn't miss Upright Citizen's Brigade this week, and it was almost time for it to start. I missed about 5 minutes but that's ok. It was pretty good, but they've done better.

I still want more cameras. I would love to have an old box camera.

There's nothing wrong with only using disposable cameras. I happen to quite like the pics you get from them. And it's really neat when you have film from a long time ago that you haven't developed. It's a suprise when you finally do get them developed. You should finish that roll. Do you know what's on there?

I have tons of pics of drunks. I have one of some guy puking on the sidewalk in front of a show. Some of my favorite drunk pics are of P'hul. You can always tell when she's had one to many.

Actually, the first time I met her I ended up taking care of her because she was too drunk. She said that I kept saying, 'you're just a baby' even though she was 17 and I was 18. smiley - smiley She also said that when she was puking this guy came into the bathroom and asked if he could watch. She said that I told him to 'get the f*** out!' My memories of that night are, suprisingly, more hazy than hers. smiley - winkeye

You wanna know how to take party pictures of drunks w/o red-eye? What causes red-eye is the flash bouncing off of some part of your eye (I don't remember what it's called). So to take pics w/o it, just shout, 'hey! look over there!' and point off to the side, then when everyone looks you take the picture. My present photog teacher told us that. He's cool, and reminds me of my dad.

Photography is really fun. If you have the chance you should take a class. But, you won't be able to use a disposable. smiley - winkeye
