The State of society in England
-Ben Sherman shirts in a multitude of florescent colours..
-The Daily Star.. The Sun.. etc.
-English football
-Bands like Oasis, Travis... "Pub Rock" kinda like a watered down version of indie, aimed at people who just like "rock 'n' roll"
-lyrics concerning the consumption of alcahol, being cool and feeling bad.. which i have no complaints with but the words seem to be more hollow than the inside of that girl off eastenders nose..
-Men magazines that have NO CONTENT - just women exposing parts of their bodies for men to get all hot and sweaty/sticky over.. articles about beer, sport, "music"
-TFI Friday.. Used to be watchable until Chris evans realised that he was absolutely amazing. Now its just an hour of Chris evans telling everyone how funny/intelligent/stickingly rich he is to a bunch of people in a bar who are all mesmerised by him.. or at least they look like they are.. its like hes trying to prove himself to the world that hes a great guy or something.. which is terribly sad.
And finally -Men, well specifically the ones who participate in the above things. These people make me extremely angry.. Its like the whole of english society is geared for them, as if they were the social elite. Well at least i believe that is what they are told to believe. And in doing so, generation after generation is being brought up thinking this kind of person is somehow the "status quo"
It is the European Championships at the moment.. basically an excuse to be completely facist towards countries, particulary Germany. Evan the tv stations are at it. I watched the first half, and the commentator seemed to end every sentance with ".. the germans"
Unfortunately, England won.. after 30 odd years with no luck... they managed to beat a bunch of 30 year old players who are playing the worst football in about.. 30 odd years. And what does the press say about it? "we beat the huns!" "Hun-Ray!!" etc. etc....
ITV made a short replay of the games highlights, all in slow motion, with dramatic music making it seem like the players were actually risking their lives or something..
Unsprisingly, some english fans were arrested after the game for fighting and what-not.. These people are the same people as above, the ones i despise deeply...
Working in a pub part time.. i get to see these kinds of people.. they rarely think.. they drink Lager.. they are small minded facist bigots... But the truly sad thing is, they do not realise it.
Because it is such a part of the english society, and mentality, these people dont think they're doing anything wrong. "Newspapers" like the sun and the daily star, have no news at all! its pityful, just naked women and half of the paper devoted to sport. But they are among the top selling papers in England...
On a different note, The daily mail is basically the same as the mentioned papers, but only because the news that it reports on is for right wing conservatives who agree with fox hunting, are actually interested in the Royal family, and basically any other thing from the 1950's... very backward paper. It had a two page article devoted to the trashiness of channel 5, and its incessent use of pornography to get viewers.
Point one.. If the daily mail think that Keith Chegwin appearing naked throughout the show is going to get the masses watching a tv show.. well, ok i guess it could be interesting or at least very f*****g funny... hehe
Point two.. it didnt once acknowledge that all 4 other channels do the same, maybe not so much but some more vulgar. ITV have a show called pleasure island set on a hedonists beach. It portrays old men and women completely nekkid admitting to having sex with loads of people... thats just sick
I was actually shocked at this one 50 year old man, who one night, managed to have sex with a young porn star..and then managed to get a part in her next movie!!! haha they actually showed some of the filming too.. The only word i can think of is repulsive.. The two girls looked quite disgusted too, i dont think he was in the best shape hes been in his life.. oh did i mention he was a fat truck driver?
ok maybe not as shocking as some of channel 5's stuff.. but that show was on at half 8 on itv.. which before the watershed is pretty riske..
Anyway.. rounding up that complete load of nonsense i believe channel 5 are doing a fine job, they do shows the other channels wont broadcast.. so we have more variety.. We dont pay for it, so whats the big deal? but the Daily mail are so pompus its silly...
Ending abruptly due to lack of sleep, if anyone has any views on this i would love to hear them.
