Just done a word count of parts 1 to 4 of the 30th. It's almost 3,000 words! to anyone who waded their way through it. Time to stop the waffling and get back to lurking.

I haven't read part 4 yet (I like to read conversations in order, oldest to latest, so I don't miss any) but based on what's gone before, I'm looking forward to it. Ye isn't that much before my time (I was born in '67) but it was such an interesting time.

I'm a child of the 60's too deb, so perhaps my ye isn't that far off at all. You'd have been 11 when I was at Victoria Park for the RAR event. But as far as my girls think, ye was back in the Dark Ages!

I'd rather not write very much about teaching at all! It occupies quite enough of my waking hours as it is - and a lot of the sleeping ones too. I don't intend to be doing it for very much longer. Although I have given it up three times already over the years, so who knows.

I'm not really here Posted Dec 2, 2013
I have really enjoyed this thread coely, I hope you pop out of more often now.
One thing I forgot to comment on earlier was that I think you mentioned Sunshine's teaching career? Did I read that right? What happened to forensic pathology, that's quite a switch!?

No, I like lurking because then I get to read other people's stuff! And since I write and talk so much for work, it's nice to be quiet.
Sunshine did a forensic degree, yes, but works for an energy company. There are no forensic jobs, and the degree was just a science one with a fancy name. So she has done a distance learning modular PGCE in primary science. It's taken 3 years, whilst holding down a full time job and paying a mortgage etc all by herself.. She would take all the overtime going to get extra money and when she had enough banked to pay the bills for 2 months she'd book a block of unpaid leave to do her teaching practice. She's such a hard worker!

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Dec 3, 2013
yes... lack of jobs... they never mention that, it seems, when they're 'telling us all', how we're failing, by not finding one
I'd have thought teaching was still crying out though, for new people, all the time...

As of Friday, Sunshine is now a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT)! No jobs around at the moment but at least she can properly look.

She makes the third in the family! Me and my sister-in-law are both secondary, Sunshine chose primary, but as a science specialist I hope she'll have no problem finding an NQT post. In fact, just today she did some voluntary work at a school and they suggested she give them a CV.
