Waves to Coely!
shazzPRME Started conversation Oct 25, 2000
Hi Coely!
Long time no see!
I have had compie problems which means that I have lost most of my old email addresses. Could you drop me an email sometime and let me know how you are getting on at the shool etc? It seems ages since we chatted!
TM has been wonderful and got me a new computer now, so, hopefully, I should be well set up for a few years!
Great to see you back around h2g2!
love

Ooh! *Jumps up and down excitedly*
Had computer and house move problems myself, so you have my sympathy. This comes to you from a natty laptop, but I have been accessing mail from libraries for the past couple of months.
Expect mail withing a couple of days. I've sort of lost one of my accounts, (in that I can see I have mail but can't reply to it!) so I know how you feel.
Glad to be back and to catch up with friends here. Going to make it over for the next London meet?

shazzPRME Posted Oct 25, 2000
It certainly looks like it yes... although I'm not sure if TM will be persuaded to get on ice skates! LOL
Did you hear that we are now officially engaged? We, or rather Kheldar, made it public at the Dutch Meet which was great!
I haven't forgotten about your invite btw... but I know that you have been rather busy and inaccessable!
I look forward to your email anyway

I had read about the engagement, but saw no ref to it on your page so wasn't sure. I'm so pleased for both of you.
Very busy and very inaccessable I'm afraid. Where did the summer go?
(surrounded by boxes packed in August)

shazzPRME Posted Oct 25, 2000
I can imagine! I spent the whole summer helping out with the renovation at Het Kasteel... sometimes from the am until late at night! It is finished now though, so I can get back more on track... whatever that is! LOL
I suppose that I should put it on my page somewhere... it got some coverage in the Post, but just wait until the wedding! I don't know when that will be yet though... a few loose ends to tie up in England! Foolishly, although holding a separation agreement for 11 years, I hadn't actually gone for the nisi or absolute, so now I have to spend a lot of time tracking down paperwork (some was lost in the flood 2 years ago!) and get myself legal! Not much fun when I'm here and the stuff I need to get is in England! Oh well... we'll get there

Get yourself legal! It might take a while. I'm still trying to sort financial things out 6 years later, despite the absolute 4 years ago.
I've got so much backlog to catch up on that I haven't got around to the Post yet, so I'll read it soon. Look forward to congratulating you both in person if I can make it to London in a month's time.

Yes... it would be great to see you again, hopefully this time for a little longer!
I don't think that I'll have any other problems apart from the paperwork as the children are all grown up and the property etc was settled a long time ago... I just need to show the papers to the Dutch authorities and all should be well
I guess that you are on half-term atm... hence the late night! LOL

Half Term. Wonderful invention.
Had hoped to get to Brugges, but a week is just not long enough to do everything.
Good luck with paperwork. The EU should mean that you are legal eveywhere?

shazzPRME Posted Oct 26, 2000
Yes, although I was mis-informed before I came over and have to send things like my birth certificate back to be 'stamped' by some obscure office!

I'm still recovering from the shock of having to have a photo card for my driving licence. I'm going to have to go for a quick facelift so that it looks good.

shazzPRME Posted Oct 27, 2000
Arghhh! Really?? Does that mean that I need to get some photo's done to send mine back for a change of address then? Oh dear... I better join you at the beauticians then! LOL

The photo must be colour, and a 'true likeness' though, so we might have a bit of trouble! A 'person of standing' who has known you 2 years must sign it to say so. (Know anyone bribable?)
You also need to send them passport or birth cert as extraproof of ID.
All I did was move house!

Phil Posted Oct 27, 2000
If you send the passport, you don't need to get the photos signed! I found this out earlier this year when I got my driving license changed. The other thing is on the form you have to keep the signature in the tiny little box they give you otherwise it's rejected
From looking at my shiny photocard it looks like the photo and signature are scanned in and then printed onto the card.
Waves to both Coely and Shazz!

*Waves back to Phil*
Thanks for the tip there. I really should read all the paperwork! But I love the idea of giving you a box to practice getting the sig small enough.
Shazz - little tip I was given for the photo. Take a mirror in the booth, or even a piece of card covered in foil. Hold this under your chin (out of shot obv!) and the light will reflect up onto your face and remove all the extra chins etc! Worth a try I reckon.

Make sure you go to one of the digital ones as well where it shows what the picture looks like before it prints it, then at least you can go back and start again if it's all wrong

Hi Phil
Thanx for the tip Coely!
As my passport also still has my English address on it, I think that I had better wait until I have updated that before I start on the driving licence!
You would have thought that moving from one EU country to another would have been easier then this. Every time I transfer money over to England I get charged twice! Once to move it to the border of Holland and then again by my bank for the priviledge of putting Guilders into my own account! Oh well... I guess that England really IS still an Island after all

Photo taken (URGH), signed (just in case, but not necessary after all). Alll I have to do now is fill out the form.
Shazz - You could use your birth certificate, but then...
you also need other documents if your surname is different ie through marriage.
The money changing sounds a bit much. Isn't there some way you can do e-banking rather than EU?
