long haul

wow. having a broken arm is so depressing. i have some voice recognition software now, but i need to train it as it muddles, among other things, a, at, and our. it's good with longer words, though.

i had an appointment at the fracture clinic today. they said my arm has to stay in the sling for at *least* three/four more weeks, and even then my arm will be stiff. and i mustn't use it. or fall on it. or anything. i had more xrays. the xray technician almost seemed annoyed when i said that i wasn't pregnant. i said last time three people had checked. he said it wasn't a legal requirement, it ws a low dosage, and last time they must have been xraying my abdomen. i said no, it was exactly the same xrays as this time. he then forced me to do the xray with my arm in a really painful position. last week i nearly cried and then the radiologist set the machine up differently, with the help of her boss, two pieces of foam and what looked like a bag of marbles. this week, i had to bear it. but its left me eeling all shaken and fragile and weepy again, which isn't good.

i drowned my sorrows with simcity4, which has the advantage that most of the time one only needs a mouse.

so they said i'd broken it.

I fell over today in Didsbury smiley - sadface my ankle went over a propos of nothing, and I fell down hard, and broke my left arm....

funnily enough, 40 years ago my mum broke her left arm in the same place I did today. she insisted we go to the hospital, and i now have a sling and a sick note, and no plaster, because at the point i broke it a sling is enough. i guess i'll need to get an extension on my dissertation - I could be out of action for 6-8 weeks smiley - sadface its taking me ages to type with just my right hand; I can't dress myself or use a knife and fork or lots of other petty things, including write. I have ibruprofen to take but my arm still hurts, & i keep getting weepy over the slightest thing. But I'm glad i don't need a cast, and i think on balance that i'm pleased that its my arm not my leg - i could have dislocated my knee agin but haven't, so thats good...smiley - erm

Where have I been???

...I'm not sure. I've been feeling quite stressed recently, and I've been doing everything I like, including hanging around h2g2 a bit less because of it. So I think I'm going to stop by peer review, shove my oar in, and Anna's going to send me some more entries to edit next week smiley - ok Then it's the party! Yay!
