I spent yesterday bashing my head against the Nature search engine, with no success... Found luck in the pages of New Scientist, though.
Google is my favourite engine in the internet.

For research on potential employers

Try that on Google, if you can think of the keywords... if you find a company you like you can do a GoogleScout which finds their main competitors quite well.

That would have been handy for my mock interview last monday. I've never used google before though.

Try it.. its worth reading the help though, for good results. It is for most engines actually, I read a report that said a major problem facing website designers is that the amount of choice available on the web means that if people don't get results straight away, they give up and try somewhere else. So people won't learn how to use the internet optimally.

I usually get far too many hits on the other engines I use so I might give google a go
