Mopping around and looking at the relavent Mags, trying to get a job. Why?

I was mostly just wondering. But have you tried writing speculative application letters? Just picking a company that works in your field or a related one and ask if they have any jobs going. Alternatively a lot of them have information on the net or at least details about personnel managers and the like who you would apply to. You've got a good chance of finding something if the company is expanding.

Apparently 60-80% of jobs never get advertised.

Just a thought to keep you occupied outside playing computer games smiley - winkeye

I might sign up with a couple of specialist job agencies, let them do some of the work for me.

Good idea, I'm about to suscribe to Nature too. Hopefully that will provide a few more ideas. And keep my mind on the subject.

Nature is *scary*. I read it once... not until I'm much much older will I touch it again!
Keeping your mind on the subject is good too, especially if you read Nature you can keep up to date with all the latest papers and be immpressive in interviews

I got a 40% discount for New Scientist, its worth buying the magazine at a newsagent for a couple of weeks and looking out for a special offer, they tend to do lots and lots.

I know, but at the moment my Mum is footing the bill for the New scientist, so I just need to get Nature really.

We find parents useful for this. But I still think Nature is scary.
