I've been gone far too long; and it'll probably be a long time before I ever find a reply to this message.
Why can't I ever stay? What's missing now that we had before? Why do I feel so sad about it all? <smiley type="blue"/>

Hi! Good to see you again!
I think what's missing now is the people. All the people I used to hang out with have pretty much left. I'm still here... but in other places too, and its them I seem to enjoy more.
So how are you? Andy and I have been married for five weeks now! It's still exciting...

Ahh, ta for that hug smiley thing. Erm, you'll have to be content with (hug). It works on my MSN, promise
I'm....mediocre. I wasn't expecting you to reply so soon, thought you'd be off honeymooning, or generally enjoying romantic bliss etc etc Glad you're enjoying it
I've finished my degree (May '05) and have since been seeking FT employment. I'm currently working a few shifts at a local pub (tho' a different one to when I left for Uni!), and juggling my time between several brass/concert bands. This results in fairly boring weekdays, and rather busy weekends. And early mornings on said weekends Anyway, if anyone knows of somewhere that'll employ a dude with a 2.2 in BSc (Hons) Forensic Science, give me a yell...
...please?
I understand about the people leaving, and being other places. I'm not sure what other places I've been, but I think I've been busy there! Probably mainly eBay I think! Do you think perhaps that when the BBC took over, some of the fun (from say, chasing people through threads and generally running amok) went out of it? Or at least felt it had?
Sooooo, what else have you been up to, besides tying the preverbial knot? Hmmmm?

You use angle brackets for the smileys here, so < hug > works.
Work wise, a year ago I got my present job, which is doing computer support at my old 6th form college, including mending computers, designing a fault reporting system, helping prevent the little darlings from accessing those things which it is not good for them to see on the internet, stuff like that. Other than that I still live in Manchester, albeit in a slightly different part... I am enjoying wedded bliss... with broadband in the flat because Andy needs it to PhD with. It's only been working for a week, though, so I've been using it rather a lot
I don't think it was just the move to the bbc that did it, I think it coincided with things like me living out and having less time for h2g2, some people went to uni and didn't have time any more, some people left uni and didn't have time, and people only ever come back piecemeal so we're not all here at once any more. I possibly use the net as much now as I did in my first year as a student, but I use a few different communities - my lastest is deviantArt, but I use livejournal and a few other forums as well, so my time's split. In the old days, the only community I really knew about was here...

And of course, everyone seems to have stopped using ICQ now.
OK, maybe that has nothing to do with it. I agree with you about people having less time anyway. I had internet access in my room for my last two years of Uni, but I think I actually used it more for doing research ( shock, horror) and maybe talking to my friends .
You can tell I've found the Smiley help pages, can't you?

Yep
You used your computer for research?!! Shocking.
I gave up on messenger programs on the grounds that they almost invariably prevent me from doing anything other than checking whether my friends are online, and chatting with them to the detriment of everything else if they are.

Ah, I know that problem with messengers all too well! While I may have used my computer for research, I also used it to chat to my mates far far away...in the next flat....

What's going on around here? I'm sorry if I'm so out of touch I'm antiquated, but where's the Donut Stall (I appreciate you might have less time for it now)? Where's the pub? I can find pages for them, but the last conversations were posted to in 2005?!
Oh, and can you suggest a way of meeting some new folk, seeing as my plans seem to have failed...

I suggest Lil's atelier A304354 as a cool place to hang out; It's pretty much the only place I post on here anymore bar journals. There is a pretty established ettiquette there, but I like it... The latest thread is F38024?thread=2133573
But yeah, I closed the donut stall because no one went there anymore... Well, it's not completely closed, but I got rid of my autopost etc. Everyone who used to go to the F&F has pretty much left, the ones that I knew, anyway.

Even the (new to me) Cheshire Grin Inn hasn't been posted to since October! What's going on around here?!
Look! Tumbleweed!
....@........@.......
I'll have a nose around that forum, cheers I'd be lost without you, j'au-æmne!

That would be a good idea. Where's an artist to suggest it to?
That forum.... had a lot of big words on the article page ! Still, I'd watch, and read and see if I can join in...

It depends... on where it is, and whether or not my husband will be in Canada at the time...
