There's a new(ish) arrival here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/U179595 - with an express interest in Astrophysics and Astronomy and about studying these subjects at university in the near future. I know this is just you area of expertise so I thought'd I'd drop by and just let you know.

Take Care.

I'll treasure it smiley - star - thanks! smiley - blush

On a different note, I confess - I've got button envy. smiley - devil

I was thinking about applying to become a sub-editor smiley - geek
I've read the volunteers page for sub-editors - it sounds all right. I've really enjoyed being an ACE but I've come to conclude that my performance in writing my own Guide Entries isn't the most productive record ever, which got me thinking maybe I should try another tack and attempted editing other people's works. This is a skill I would like to learn.

As a seasoned Volunteer, I seek your enlightened counsel.

Thats what I figured too - something I wanted to learn.
Its fun - you find you're editing things you'd probably have shied away from reading... and some of the entries are amazing, like the one I just did on Asperger's sydrome, for example.
On the other hand people aren't necessarily delighted with your work (although I've had no commments either way so far) and sometimes you get an entry and you're like, 'What??' How did that get through peer review??smiley - bigeyes
But overall its very rewarding, and its something you get better at. Also you're not the final word - it gets checked in house twice before being frontpaged...
Subediting takes time, and can be nitpicky. But I say go for it.
