Hi Munch

Sorry for not getting back sooner - holidays & all that!

There is an rsi mailing list where you can ask questions of other rsi sufferers, a faq, an archive of past mails in subject order. Generally an extremely helpful site where most people are really helpful & supportive. They can point you to many different sites also. The e mail is: [email protected]
You can choose to have mails sent once a day in bulk or just as they come. The site owner looks at each mail before putting it out to everyone.

There is also the RSI Association: 380-384 Harrow Road, London W9 2HU, e-mail: [email protected] This has nothing to do with the above site.

If these addresses "are not allowed", let me know your e address & I will repeat them!!

What's the reason for the interest in RSI? Do you think you may have a form of it?

Long live dragons!! ..... & they do!

All the best.

Thanks! Well, I use computers about as much as it's possible to considering I don't work with them smiley - geek , and occasionally I get pains in my fingers (I think I'm too young for arthritis,) and whether the pains ARE RSI or not, it occurs to me that since it looks increasingly likely that I'm going to spend my life working with them, smiley - geeksmiley - martianfrownsmiley - geek until Apple develops better speech recognition, I thought I should be "well informed." Just an unusual burst of caution on my part.

Hmm- I've been posting on a couple of dragon threads recently- try searching for "Dragonhunt" or something. smiley - smiley

Thanks,

OK, I'm no doctor, but my trouble began some 12 years ago. First sign was pain in fingers & arms, resulting in trigger finger - finger began clicking inside hand & eventually got locked down. Do you have any kind of clicking in your palm? Several of my fingers have been operated on, together with cortizone injections, carpal tunnel op & tenosynovitis & tendonitis in both arms, tendonitis in shoulder & now "general wear & tear" of my neck causing pain in my head!!! I'm telling you all this so that you take it seriously.

RSI is an umbrella term for a variety of different diagnoses. Some are on the "Industrial Injuries" list, some aren't. There is also "diffuse" RSI, where no sort of diagnosis can be found, but there is extreme pain.

Arthritis can attack at ANY age, children included.

Gentle stretching exercises of the hands & arms are useful, along with ensuring regular breaks from the keyboard & any use of the hands.

Posture is appearing to be the main cause of most problems. You can find advice on the sites I gave you & various other sites that if you ask will be given to you. Sorry I can't help too much, but now i have it chronically & can't work - discovered too late - I don't tend to look at much to do with it now, apart from the list in case I can help or if I get another symptom.

Basically, don't ignore any pain - prevention is better than cure, especially if it becomes too late to cure!!!

Is there arthritis in your family or have you had any inuries/ops on your hands which could cause rheumatism?

I looked up "dragonhunt" & found only one entry, ie: yours, but it sounded as if you were replying to someone's entry?? Confused? So am I - ha! When my brain is in order - I'll get back there smiley - winkeye

Feel free to ask any questions if you want - don't get scared, just be very aware!

Take care
Shirps
