I can say now with nominations closing in 50 minutes that I shall not be seeking the nomination of my party in this by election.

I didn't stand there last time. I fully believe that the candidate who stood there last time did an admirable job. The two of us agreed to present a consistant front to the voters of West Lothian building up our personal profiles in our respective constituencies something that has been missing locally for too long.

Once he answered my questions regarding his intentions I left him a clear road as teh only local candidate. Call it the Livingston Gambit Declined.

Ever thought of standing as an MSP?

I am on the approved candidates list. I will be looking at standing in 2011 unless I get elected to Westminster in the time being. 2007 I would be looking for two jobs if I were to stand for Holyrood as well as council might not go down to well with voters if I was looking for their personal vote twice on the same day.

Well, I really don't care who gets elected providing it's a left-wing candidate. I'd prefer to see a lot more LibDem representation in government because it's fairer and also because I think this country needs some fresh ideas desperately.
