David Steel entry - queries

Hi DD,

Got a few questions about your entry on David Steel:

- "David Martin Steel was a child of the manse" - what's 'the manse', or rather, this really needs a footnote explaining the word, so what would you like it to say?

- "had a famous quarrel with the colonial government" - I'm guessing it's his father that had the quarrel, but just checking?

- "the result was that he came forth in the Central Region in Italy" - possible typo here, is it that he stepped forward, or that he came 4th?

That's the lot. Nice to see your catalogue of British politicians progressing smiley - smiley

Being a child of the manse means being born and raised within the family of a Church of Scotland minister, the manse being the home supplied by the church for their minister.

Indeed it was the father David Steel Senior

And yes I did mean fourth(4th) not forth. smiley - winkeye
