my advice is never pushed! only offered

one thing I often do when I get a cold caller, is when they ask for Mr --I say just a moment! I'll call him and then put the phone down and walk to the other side of the room (echo etc) and shout my name - your wanted on the phone!

while they wait it's COSTING them money and just listen for the hang-up tone after a while
