The bad news is, of course, that I'll be looking for a new job to do.

Not always. Before this project started, I was doing something pretty steady for another company.

I'd like to find another project like this one, though. One that pays better than what I was doing.

They always want a lot, and don't want to pay much.

ah! typical standards of want more in, pay less out
