how long will it take ? and will you be able to come straight home after as such

I'm not sure about how long it takes - althought they say it won't take long. And that you just have to sit around for an hour maybe to make sure everything's okay.

I was awake throughout the real operation - and that involved actual eyeball surgery.

Well, 'awake' isn't really the right word for it...very altered state...

Actually, you're in a 'twilight state' and you couldn't move if you wanted to. You also don't know what universe you're in.
