I deliver specialised beds to hospitals and help place the patients on them and help train the staff on their usage.

I also deliver machinery to patients homes when they are able to leave hospital.

It's a job that gives me a lot of satisfaction in that the home machinery helps people to heel quicker and the beds do help to save lives.(they are mostly specialised intensive care beds)

And I do get to meet a whole raft of characters which is great

most worthwhile, my respects to you, Ill see you later my friend, stay safe and well

nearly always here my friend, but I expect with the job you have, it can't be standard hours, so I reckon some early starts and some late finishes, will curtail your time on here and being an ex TV engineer(so I had one)I bet you have the right arm suntan of a driver

yeah you're not wrong there.

There definitely is a difference in shade between my arms

I'll have to get myself a left hooker van and take turns of driving that with the usual one

used to get weird looks when shirt was off, white left, tanned right and unless they drove, you could not explain it to a non driver

It's when one side if your face is dark and the other white that you get funny looks (been there)

But then I get funny looks everytime I look in the mirror

I walked into a ward yesterday not realising I still had my sunnies on, on top of that I had my hands free kit still hanging from my ears (I must have looked a right berk). The nurse gave me a funny look and as I left she said something about Special Agent. It did make me laugh.

there's always one, but you can bank on there being more

you must be like me then, I'm a nutter magnet, bus seats/pubs/ just out walking, nutters never bother anyone else, but its can you lend me etc for cup of tea and the like, my reply is, I'm a Yorkshireman, I'm skint and I'm just going tapping for money, they tend to look gormless

Gormless is their natural default look

You want to try communicating with some of the foriegn nurses that have just the barest grasp of English. Sometimes you might as well go bang your head against a wall
I will say that they are all lovely people and they do try.

do you get your route etc the day before, or is it a dept job first

It is very rare for me to know what the next days work is going to be.

Usually we go in to the depot and sort the route out as the jobs come in.

With the beds they are normally delivered within 4 to 5 hours of the order being placed. Although quite often they are delivered sooner than that. As you can imagine, there is normally some urgency with a bed delivery.
