I am a PhD student at the University of Kent at Canterbury in England.
My thesis is 'The Role of Popular Music During World War II'.
I am looking at how music influenced the lives of people during the war and vice versa. Particular areas of interest are ENSA and the Overseas Recorded Broadcast Services (ORBS) records, as well as personal accounts of the role that music played in wartime life. I am trying to determine how the music industry was affected by the war.
There are so many aspects to music during the war and I would be glad to correspond with anyone who has an interest in the same area or a story to tell.
