I probably couldn't help because I rarely buy games, and only then with great caution...

But I'm (apparently) being sent a free copy of Unreal Tournament. Has anyone played it and got any views on it? If I recieve it I'll write something on it if you like.

That would be greatly appreciated,I'm hoping to get some more interest in my page after the new year. I've got quite a few reviews to do myself so you are welcome to write something about the game. I hoping other people will help as I think my reviewing skills are a bit lame. At present I've only played a demo of UT, but some say it is better than Quake 3, i will wait and see what you have to say about it. smiley - smiley

I've played Starseige Tribes a fair bit, I could write a review of that if you'd like... other than that, you'll have t' wait until after Christmas so's I've got some new games *grin*

I like the way your page is shaping up, here's hoping it makes it as *the* place for gaming on H2G2...

You can do a review of Tribes if you want, I've put up on the list to do already. I've been playing tribes over a LAN recently against my friends and been trying out some new mods on it, it definately breathes new life into the game.
I want to do some more to the page, and my reviews, like adding more images and getting my design friend to go over it for me. I was hoping that it would become the best place to find out about games on H2G2 as well smiley - smiley

I've got Unreal Tournament now... but I can't play it until tomorrow because that's when my shiny new 52 speed CDROM drive arrives smiley - smiley (the old one's dead) But I hope to draw up a review soon!
I don't think much of the packaging though - I know it's an OEM version, but it came on two CDs in flat plastic wallets, in an envelope. I'm surprised they haven't disintegrated.

Do you want a review on Wheel of Time? I got it not that long ago and I think I'm ready to write a review of it.

I can do DK2 for you if you want, also DK1 and the Deeper Dungeons extension pack as I've just about finished all three.

Also if you'd like I can do a review of Might & Magic 7 as well.

There is one very old game that is still being played a large amount, and in my opinion probably the best game ever - yup, its none other than Doom!!
(I can write the review for that if you like!)

Return to Krondor - RPG

Based on Raymond E. Feist's wildly popular Riftwar collection of novels, this game is a sequel of sorts to the old DOS game Betrayal at Krondor, although, aside from a couple of common characters, it has nothing to do with its predecessor. Like Betrayal, the game is designed somewhat like a novel, with the player having to negotiate the characters through several chapters to win. The best thing about this game is its interactivity; my brother played the game after I did, and his story differed from my own in many respects. It has all the elements of a great RPG, but the plotline is its strongest feature. It is very easy to get caught up in the story, as you tramp around Krondor and interact with tons of different characters. Experience is awarded from solving puzzles and mysteries as readily as from defeating enemies, so it overcomes the biggest limitation of your average hack-and-slash RPG.

Two unique features in the gameplay make it stand out. The first one you'll notice when you first attempt to disable a trap or pick a lock. Rather than just generating a random number and checking it against your disable traps skill, the game provides you with several tools and allows you to choose the right one for the job, which will modify your chance of success. A mechanical meter then appears, and your own sense of timing will determine success or failure. Incredibly difficult at first, but as you begin to disable more difficult traps, you'll soon be able to guess the correct tools for each trap component.

The next excellent feature becomes apparent the first time the party dies. First of all, if any single member dies, and the combat is won, that character stands at the end of combat with a single hit point, making it unnecessary to perform complicated ressurections. But when every member dies off, and they visit the halls of Lims-Kragma, the program will allow you to fight the battle over from the start, thus eliminating those annoying times when a player forgets to save three hours of game and dies unexpectedly.

It is possible to finish in a short time, but there are also little side plots to become involved with, as well. This means a replay or two would be well worth your time. Also, this is not one of those overly-complicated games that requires a massive cheat book to complete.

Story Line: A+
Game Play: A+
Graphics: B-

There ya go! I have a few more I could write, as well. And if you need advertising for this thing, I can get you some on the Post. Just let me know.

I could help out a bit. I am a huge computer gamer... and I have been for years. Your Quake 3 analysis was interesting...I actually live here in Dallas and know some of the ID guys. I run a huge gaming page at http://www.planetquake.com/forceclan .

After looking around here a bit, I have a suggestion. Perhaps it would be best if you positioned this page as an analysis of the BEST games the industry has to offer. This would be better than making it look like it is a catch-all computer games review page. As you know, the web is replete with gazillions of these computer game review pages. H2G2 should offer something a little different, rather than try to replicate pages that already exist...

I will think about different approaches... Meanwhile, I will write up a short and humorous comparison of Unreal Tournament and Quake 3... How does one go about posting that review here on the site? What is the process for these collaborative efforts?
