GLASS!
Glass. It has many uses. Decorative vases, handy beakers, focussing on that ever-difficult word you just can't make out that LOOKS like a rude word, but can't possibly be in the middle of Sainsburys.
I walked into a glass head today. Honest. It was like a mannequin, with hair and a startled rabbit expression. Only, it was made of glass. This person had bought it as a christmas pressie for his mum. Lovely. I'm sure she'll be thrilled.
But truthfully, what would we do without that wonderful transparent commodity they call glass? What would glasses be called? Clingfilms? You try going up to your optician and saying, ' I've come to pick up my clingfilms' with a straight face.
I suppose we'd all get used to it in the end. Like we all got used to a stone with a hole in the middle and someone calling it a 'wheel'.
Ah. Isn't glass great? :-)
