I think the food must have been of its time, as well as its place. Quite a few of the popular dishes wouldn't really look out of place in your area! Although my father told me about the atrocities a landlady of his used to commit with cabbage, so I'm not going to disbelieve you. I'd tell you her recipe, but you'd never feel like eating again.
But you *will* have to come back some day. I didn't know you were that much of a fan.

Always have been. However, I'll probably never be able to decide which I really like best - Scotland, Ireland, Yorkshire, or Wales. Although I've had boyfriends from all four places...
Well, actually, I'd say Ireland right away if it weren't for all that exaggerated Catholicism (hideous plastic Madonnas and plaster Jesuses with open chests, ripping out their own bleeding hearts, on every street corner)...

P.S. I've seen terrible thing done to red cabbage in England, by the way. Single leaves boiled into submission in water until they were grey and flabby. No salt, no spices, no fat, nothing at all. Made we want to . And that was a wedding meal at a four-star country hotel!

Tell Mal to stay home. You're putting *me* off it now. Although I do believe that's more an aesthetic thing that anything to do with devoutness or religious obsession. The plain, completely un-garish varieties of Christianity have more than enough of their own horror stories too, even if there's a lot less red paint involved.

Why use red paint if you can have plenty of... er...
How's the weather over there? Here, it's been cold and rainy all day...

Oh, tease if you like.
Weather? Hmmm. Grey, wet...I did notice something interesting I've never noticed before when checking the weather down south. I've never seen it on BBC weather reports before: http://www.met.ie/forecasts/warnings.asp (last weather warning).

Normally I would have screamed in agony, but the Sistabarista already stuck me with something else, which is far worse, believe it or not...
So, what will it be - man or mouse?

Never mind, I've got enough macho in me for the two of us!
Hm, let's try a different approach...
It has nothing to do with the Jacob Sisters. In fact, there are no people and no animals involved at all. And nobody sings the words.
So, how bad can it be?

Hm, can't think of anything right now, nothing exciting happened here while she was away...
... but she sent me a yesterday, so maybe you could return that!
Hope you two will have a lovely trip!

Hi there, just to let you know that one juggler has been deposited in the airport a few hours ago and should be with you in good working order later this afternoon.
It was a nice trip, if a bit hectic - and that friend of yours is an interesting man!

One juggler is now on board a train, headed for my general vicinity - I'll pick her up shortly before three. There will be rhubarb cake...
Glad to hear you had a fun trip. Eager to hear details. And, as for Wexford: told ya so!

Wasn't it Limerick you warned against? But Wexford had to be seen to be believed. It was astounding.
Anyway, keep the cake coming when she wakes. It's been a demanding day!

When she wakes, there will be mushrooms and cheese and green linguini... do you think she might like fries with that?
I sent her that mail message telling her that the only touristic highlights in Wexford were those two hospitals...
Oh, and thanks for those crisps... I think... they look lovely, especially the buffalo kind... for those who laugh at indoor plumbing...
And I bet you came home to a very happy little dog...

Yep, fell asleep on the train but luckily I was heading to the end of the line anyway, then picked up in a taxi on the way home. He did the whole doggy "YOU? But I thought you stopped existing!" thing.
Tell me this - do you have Planxty's 2004 live reunion CD? I was going to send it back with Mal for you, but she wasn't sure which ones of theirs you have. So if you don't have it I'll send it along.
