Does that mean that the 6th harmonic of C is quite but not entirely a Bb, and hence you wrote 'slightly flat', meaning it is less than a B flat, or between a C and a B flat?

Ah, I see the problem now. It's slightly flatter than Bb. Exactly how much flatter depends on what exactly you mean by B flat, but by a reasonable definition, the "6th harmonic" is 27% of a semitone flatter than B flat.

You think it is advisable to footnote this?

Here's my suggestion:
Change:
F (very sharp)
to:
F# (very flat)
After the first occurrence of "slightly flat", put The slightly flat notes are about a quarter of a semitone flat.
After the first occurrence of "very flat", put The very flat notes are about a half of a semitone flat.

Two typos:
correllated --> correlated
perfomance --> performance

I asked for this change earlier, Annie. I don't know whether you decided against it or just missed it:
which would have required artistic skills --> which would have required acrobatic skills
There are a few more changes I'd like to make to increase the readability:
to shift the whole natural scale down for one to six semitones
-->
to lower the pitch of the whole natural scale by anything from one to six semitones
Replace the following:
"As the trumpet's usable tone range starts not at its theoretical base tone, but at the first harmonic (first octave), the next natural tone is one fifth (i.e. seven semitones) higher. If the player shifts that tone down for all available six semitones, he is only one semitone above the first harmonic, and there's no tonal gap."
with:
"From the 1st harmonic up to the top of the range, the biggest gap in the scale is between the 1st and 2nd harmonics, a gap of seven semitones. By using the valves, any note can be lowered by up to six semitones, so this gap is filled in. It is therefore possible to play a complete chromatic scale over the full range of the instrument."
Add link to A595947 on the first use of the term "French horn".

Relax! It was only the first change that I had asked for previously.

Relax...this is my first Flea Market rescue and I've got to remember to go see Kerr Avon as well!
I'll probably be less nervous with my secondat least it's a subject I know something about.
