Does anyone think I should have used 10 grams per litre rather than a percentage of the volume of water in the Aral Sea smiley - huh

10 grams per litre is what the Caspian sea now has , and what the aral sea used to have. It is still way below the 33% that is found in the Dead Sea.

Gnomon - time to move on

So the Aral Sea was saltier than the oceans? That makes it an inland sea, not a lake. Although the Great Salt Lake is also an inland sea. smiley - doh A terminology minefield.

The Atlantic Ocean ranges from 3.5 to 3.7%
The Great Salt Lake ranges from 11% to 28%
The Caspian Sea is about half as salty as the Oceans.
The Aral Sea is now about 17%
The Dead Sea is about 33%
Note the only one called as lake there is the Great Salt Lake.

I think it is worth stating that the Aral Sea, at 1.7% was about half as salty as the oceans.

I have some nitpicks but it's nothing a good sub-editing can't fix.

As to the content, this is good and definitely thought-provoking if not damned scarysmiley - yikes I also went to look at the images of the smiley - ghostships, something other-worldly about them!

Thanks for writing this Shagbark. Are you happy with the article as it stands?

Hello Shagbark, I have made a new thread on your PS, but as you aren't subscribed to your own PS, the posting is not on your convo list. Thanks!
