Hi, bit of advice needed here folks....re. listing of generic drugs as indicated by DrMatt. I'm not sure where to put the list or would it be better to put the generic name in brackets alongside the sub headers for each explanantion of the medicines?
I did do a bulleted list before and after the medicines section, just felt it did'nt look right.

(those who know me know I can have these thick moments, I blame me meds!)

As for the idiosyncratic punctuation and phrasing...smiley - yikes....I'll again await further advice/comment!!

*Wonder if I can get treatment for that?*smiley - whistle

Hi Straighttalker, nice entry smiley - ok

You have used capitals for heart, heart attack and heart disease in various places but these are not proper nouns so don't need to be capitalised. I think the same is true for angina.

Most common cause's should be most common cause.

And yes, I think the natural place for each drug would be by the sub-heading, Beta Blockers (e.g./such as/ metoprolol).

Good mornning, the system seems to be working again, so here are a few more things i found :
You might want to link to a few entries :
smiley - star usually refers to the furring up of arteries -

smiley - star diabetes

smiley - star exercise

smiley - star diet

some other things:

smiley - star Nitrates relax the muscles in the walls of veins and arteries - are there muscles in the veins ?

smiley - star they relax the walls of the arteris - arteries

smiley - star These have a similar effect to nitrates as they relax the walls of the arteris and so improves -improve

smiley - star they stop blood clotting it means you can bleed for longer. - which means

smiley - star the diagnostic test the angiogram - during the angiogram

smiley - star minimum stay in hospital of up to a week. - of at least a week ?

smiley - star The electrodes pick up blood flow activity and heart activity and produces a printout showing the trace patterns - the electrodes ...produce

As for the punctuation, you'd better wait for a sub to turn up smiley - ok

Under 'Nitrates you give the example of 'isosorbide mononitrate' in brackets. However, the text doesn't mention this at all. Perhaps the ISM should be replaced with GTN - (especially as GTNB is the one most people asre familiar with?

Hi,

I like the way you've done the drugs now, ST. Just one little quibble - wouldn't it be better to have the e.g. and brackets in straight script so that the drug name is more properly in italics?

Cardio-vascular disease effects arteries throughout the body > affects

This sentence is confusing:

'There is a misconception that the heart gets it's oxygen from the blood within the heart when in actual fact it gets the oxygen from blood flow to the heart and coronary arteries from the outside'.

Suggest something like: There is a common misconception that the heart gets it's oxygen from the blood within the heart when in actual fact heart muscle receives its own supply. Thus blood leaving the heart is pumped by the left venticle into the ascending aorta, thence to the rght and left coronary arteries which supply the heart muscle itself. This is called the 'coronary circulation'.

'ldl cholesterol which is the bad cholesterol...

This needs explaining, perhaps in a footnote. LDL means 'low density lipoprotein' (as opposed to the other form, HDL = high density lipoprotein'. As far as I'm aware, these initials are usually written in upper case smiley - erm
