Hey Flame, I hadn't read this one of yours before.
It's a sad story, a terrible story really, you're almost lulled into not realising how terrible because of Muneerah's sort of fatalistic acceptance of it all.
Which comes from there being nothing she can do about any of it and having no choices. Which is almost the worst of it for her.

Thanks very much for the reviews Waz & David.
Good to see a new face David. Well maybe not a new face around here, just a new face to me.
Cheers,
Flame

Hi Flame, I'm not new to h2g2, but I am new to the AWW, so I'm both a new face and an old one. Or something...

A story so very tragic, so very sad, and yet this piece speaks to me on levels far removed from the emotional and physical pain that is it's root. No, for me the true message lies in the indomitable will and strength of character exibitited by the heroine of this tale, facing up to and overcoming the many adversities set before her by culture as well as human failing, never shirking duty nor wallowing in self pity as would almost seem justified but instead forging ahead resolutely in spite of it all.
So it is that we can gain wisdom from a tragedy such as this, forcing us to look upon what we may view as 'hardship' in our own lives from a different perspective. How would we deal with such harrowing circumstances? Do we really have it so bad? Are the problems we face in our daily lives on the same plane as this? I know my own pale by comparison and I am thankful for that. And I am thankful to the author as well for giving cause for such introspection, I'm a better man for it.

Hello again Flame, I’m here to say, again, that we want one of your entries for the <./>underguide</.>. I hadn’t realised this one had been in the AWW this length of time – it seems no time since I read it first.
You spoilt us for choice back there for a while. Hope the writing’s going strong still, and congratulations on this one . You already know all the drill with polishers and Front Paging.
Thanks, Flame, it’s a moving and awful story, effectively told.

Hello from Bahrain! I'm pleased to see this is being featured in the underguide. I'm not convinced it is very well written though.
Hopefully once I've settled into my new environment I will begin writing again.
Many thanks
