My take on the Grasshopper malarky.

I'm very slow. It took me until half way through the piece to realise that this was a grasshopper family.

I've not written anything for years. It needs polishing, but I'd promised to put something here, so I did.

It might even inspire me. Well, odder things have happened.

whoah. These Grasshopper stories are all hopping into unusual places that I never went to before!

So - Magwitch - you just had me spending fifteen minutes researching the Flesh Fly, which is quite an usual thing to do, over supper . very interesing, though. I never heard of the Flesh Fly. My life is forever changed.

Before I start - just have to appreciate the surreal moment within a moment, of mvp saying that she was reading this, and only realising halfway through that its about a grasshopper family - so, mvp, were you reading about the white worm emerging from the abdomen, and going what??? . like whoah Cue dark story from you now, on this matter. . please???

Nice one, Magwitch. I hope you keep on with the creative writing! You write for the EG I do believe? ( I am in awe of EG writers. S'cuse me, just have a quick moment of awe. )

This is a very graphic read for sure. Matter of fact, I wanted to film it. It actually reminded me of ...(pretentious art moment alert)...... the films of Jean Painleve. I have a DVD of these called Science is Fiction - he films nature in a strange light - usually in flickering black and white. (end of pretentious art moment).

I have to admit - and I don't know what this says about me - my fave paragraph is the one with the white worm. Perhaps it is a bit like confronting what scares me the most, or something like that.

Anyway, a fine read. Thanks! Did you enjoy writing it?

I'm not qualified to offer critique and things like that, because I have no knowledge of these matters, so my imput is purely poetic. Sort of like trading pictures. Happy to be here though. And no-one laughs round here. Promise. There's good trust on these AWW shores. I was the most nervous person on earth when it came to sharing my writing, and look at me now, no stopping me! hmm

All I was going to say was - white worms. Egad. You do realise that the book by Bram Stoker that nobody has ever read except me and my best buddy in high school (the one who told me, 'Read Dracula. It will change your life) is called 'The Lair of the White Worm'? (Don't read it, unless you want to suspect that every frail-looking woman in sunglasses that you meet is really a weresnake...
