Actually, it reminds me quite a bit of the Dave Barry style of humor writing, especially that bit at the end about finding people who like beer and selling them some. I quite enjoyed this article.

Dave Barry is an American humor writer -- he writes books, etc., but most people know him from his newspaper column. His writing reads kind of like a monologue. There was a television sitcom based on his life for a while, but it fizzled pretty quickly.
